In 1978, Anna earned her journeyman electrical license. She became one of the early female licensed electricians in Dallas, TX. Anna spent close to ten years at The City of Dallas, acquiring skills in motor and refrigeration wiring, security illumination, wiring for hazardous areas, and basic electrical work. Anna played a key role in designing, building, and maintaining electrical systems for libraries, fire stations, police stations, and parks.
She exited The City the day prior to the birth of her first son (she has two grown sons) and decided to shift her focus to her family. As her children were growing up, Anna handled small projects while her mother looked after them. As more opportunities arose, Anna had built a small business by the time her boys began preschool.
