After relocating to Austin that same year, he quickly joined IBEW's Electrical Apprentice program, finishing it in 1974 when he became a licensed Journeyman Electrician. He acquired essential experience working with several esteemed contractors in Austin before achieving his Master Electrician license. After marrying Debi Mayfield in 1976, they joined forces in managing the business when he established AC Electric in 1984.
