Mike Short, a native of South and Central Texas, completed his education at Halletsville High School in 1968. After his move to Austin, he soon enrolled in IBEW's Electrical Apprentice program, which he completed in 1974, becoming a licensed Journeyman Electrician. Before earning his Master Electrician license, he gained critical experience under the mentorship of respected contractors in the Austin region. He married Debi Mayfield in 1976, and they became partners in the daily operations of the business when he opened AC Electric in 1984.
