For four years, he ran a Commercial Refrigeration Company. In 1987, he obtained a Commercial Electricians License and started an Electrical Contracting Business. In 1989, he moved to Georgetown, Texas and opened Norrell Electric. Tom received a Certificate from Imagine Solar in Austin and has installed over 43,000 watts of photovoltaic systems. He and his wife Debbie live on a three-acre lot with their devoted dog Shelia. They utilize photovoltaic power and solar hot water for their foam-insulated residence. With 11,000 gallons of rainwater storage, soon to be 22,000 gallons, they nourish their raised bed gardens and melon patches, while chickens help control pests.
