Mike Short, a native of South and Central Texas, completed his education at Halletsville High School in 1968. After his move to Austin, he soon enrolled in IBEW's Electrical Apprentice program, which he completed in 1974, becoming a licensed Journeyman Electrician. He gained invaluable experience under the guidance of several respected contractors in the Austin area before obtaining his Master Electrician license. He married Debi Mayfield in 1976, and they became partners in the daily operations of the business when he opened AC Electric in 1984.
