Raised in South and Central Texas, Mike Short graduated from Halletsville High School in 1968. After relocating to Austin that same year, he quickly joined IBEW's Electrical Apprentice program, finishing it in 1974 when he became a licensed Journeyman Electrician. He acquired essential experience working with several esteemed contractors in Austin before achieving his Master Electrician license. In 1976, he wed Debi Mayfield, and together they became partners in running the business when he founded AC Electric in 1984.
