Jerry attended Ft Myers Middle School and graduated from Ft Myers High School in 1977. Throughout the years, Jerry has been involved in supporting youth sports in Lee County. He has coached youth soccer for the Cape Coral Soccer Association and youth basketball with the Youth Basketball Association of Lee County (YBA). Debbie Martin, the secretary/treasurer, is originally from Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Debbie's family moved to Lee County, Florida, in 1972 as a result of a job transfer. She graduated from Ft Myers High School in 1979 and earned a BS degree in Finance from the University of South Florida.

In 1980, Jerry and Debbie met and were married in 1982. They welcomed their only child, Nick, in 1984. Nick graduated from Bishop Verot High School in 2003 and from the University of South Florida in 2008.
