As the owner, I have dedicated my career to learning and working in San Luis Obispo. I kicked off my career by obtaining an associate's degree in Electrical Technology at Cuesta College. This education provided me with the core principles of electricity and important business skills. After completing my degree, I pursued my journeyman's certification and gained experience in various electrical settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial. Bill earned his Electrical Engineering degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Ed completed his BS in Industrial Technology at Cal Poly. The brothers acquired the company from their parents in 1989. We added Electrical Engineering to our offerings in 1981, and it has grown steadily. The average number of employees is around 60 to 70, but we peaked at 150 while working on a five-story hospital project in Santa Maria for Marian Hospital in 2011. Thoma Electric encompasses divisions for Electrical Engineering, Major Electrical Construction, Small Electrical Construction, and Electrical Service. “All projects are significant, regardless of size”. Thoma Electric can manage nearly any project from inception to completion, covering design and construction.
