I was raised in a family of tradespeople. My father had an excavation firm, and I spent my childhood with a shovel in hand. I joke that I have a PhD in shoveling. My father, always insightful, arranged for me to work with different tradespeople each summer during my high school years. I first worked with my Godfather, an electrician. In the summer after that, I worked alongside a plumber and a land surveyor. In my third summer, I took on a ""project house"" to renovate and flip. Although we didn’t earn much, I learned a lot about home systems. Lastly, I worked with an HVAC firm, where I installed new furnaces and air conditioning systems.
