MacQuarrie Electrical Services

Security Systems, Electricians, Lighting Fixtures & Equipment
Tesla certified charging stations are my focus.
My expertise lies in electric vehicle charging stations and complementary services such as subpanels or main electrical panel work, but I offer full-service electrical solutions with considerable experience in troubleshooting, repairs, retrofits, remodels, and new construction.
Since June 2000, Lory Electric has catered to the community.
I oversee everything: owner, electrician, estimator, bookkeeper, and accountant.
Adhering to the principle ""if you want it done right, do it yourself"" often leads to long hours, but with no staff means fewer issues and lower overhead, allowing me to provide exceptional service, design, and craftsmanship at a fair price, ensuring it is done correctly the first time with extraordinary attention to detail and a focus on what is best for my clients now and in the future.
I achieved the Dean's List every quarter I could dedicate myself to college courses, but the hands-on experience of a 20-year-old with little patience, poor guidance, zero tolerance for debt, and a part-time job as an electrician led me to leave college and work full-time, earning my electrical contractor's license in June 2000 when I founded Lory Electric.

Currently, this is a solo, part-time operation. As an unlicensed electrician, I am committed to adhering to Code and ensuring quality work from the outset. Financial constraints have kept me from obtaining my license, but I collaborate effectively with local electrical inspectors. I am here to guide you through the process of securing any needed permits.
I am willing to tackle small jobs that larger companies tend to ignore. Numerous small jobs don’t even need permits. I can manage significant projects, including converting outdated knob-and-tube wiring to contemporary wiring, upgrading typical service from 100 amps to 200 amps, or adding subpanels and new circuits. I have undertaken the complete rewiring of three homes. Feel free to get in touch to discuss your electrical concerns, as I deliver Cost-Effective Solutions.
Cost-Effective Solutions began in 1983 as a consulting firm in information technology, concentrating on IBM mainframe operating systems. It was quite successful until the recession began in late 2001. Contracts dried up after 19 years of abundant work. Following six months without work, I resolved to apply my other skills acquired over three decades as a homeowner.
I initially worked as a handyman but soon gravitated toward electrical tasks, which I find fulfilling and am skilled at. I delved into electrical codes, mostly through books I acquired and guidance from more experienced individuals in construction, such as my best friend, a general contractor, and a local building inspector.
Cost-Effective Solutions holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. We recently relocated from Belmont to Petaluma. Please give me a call.
I hail from San Francisco but received my education in San Mateo. I studied at CSM, CCSF, and Oregon State University, focusing on Physics and Math, then relocated to South San Francisco, later to the City, Belmont in 1986, and ultimately Petaluma in 2018.
Prior to my work at IBM in 1969, I ran a stereo component shop and a small recording studio in San Francisco. During my younger days, I managed rock bands, created nightclub sound systems, and engaged in live sound engineering while also working full-time and pursuing other nighttime endeavors.
In 1985, I exited the music business to concentrate on Cost-Effective Solutions and IT consulting. I transitioned my home and business to Belmont in late 1986. I enjoy a happy marriage and have three adult children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
