Founded in 1983, Cost-Effective Solutions started as an IT consulting business specializing in IBM large mainframe systems. It thrived until late 2001, when the recession hit. Contracts dried up after 19 years of abundant work. Following six months without work, I resolved to apply my other skills acquired over three decades as a homeowner.

I initially worked as a handyman but soon gravitated toward electrical tasks, which I find fulfilling and am skilled at. I delved into electrical codes, mostly through books I acquired and guidance from more experienced individuals in construction, such as my best friend, a general contractor, and a local building inspector.

I am a San Francisco native, educated in San Mateo. I went to CSM, CCSF, and Oregon State University, majoring in Physics and Math, then moved to South San Francisco, the City, Belmont in 1986, and finally Petaluma in 2018.

Before starting my career at IBM in 1969, I owned a stereo component store and a small recording studio in San Francisco. While still young enough to work full-time and pursue other interests at night, I managed rock bands, designed sound systems for nightclubs, and did live sound engineering.

I departed from the music industry in 1985 to dedicate my efforts to Cost-Effective Solutions and IT consulting. I transitioned my home and business to Belmont in late 1986. I enjoy a happy marriage and have three adult children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
