As the son of Calvin, a mason, I have fond memories of accompanying him to work from a young age. Later, he shifted to general contracting, where he built a variety of homes. I helped him by carrying bricks, blocks, and cement, doing whatever tasks he required. I helped him with home construction, and I think I drilled my first electrical hole at the age of 7. To be honest, I grew to dislike construction as I got older and wanted to pursue other paths. While in college, I started a job with an electrical contractor that was initially intended to last only three days. Things went well, and I completed the work in a day and a half. He mentioned that I could continue working if I kept myself busy. I found that I truly enjoyed the work and had a knack for electrical wiring. Wanting to get married quickly, I dropped out of school and worked full-time as an electrician. More than 20 years later, I run my own business, have enjoyed 24 years of marriage, and have six children. I feel blessed.
