As the son of Calvin, a mason, I have fond memories of accompanying him to work from a young age. He later transitioned to a general contractor, building numerous homes. I assisted him by hauling bricks, blocks, and cement, helping with any task he had. When he built homes, I was there to lend a hand; I think I drilled my first electrical hole at age 7. To be honest, I grew to dislike construction as I got older and wanted to pursue other paths. During my college years, I took a temporary job with an electrical contractor that was meant to last just three days. Things went well, and I completed the work in a day and a half. He offered me continued work if I stayed busy. I discovered a passion for the work and a talent for electrical wiring. Eager to marry, I left school and committed to working full-time as an electrician. Now, over 20 years later, I own my own business, have been happily married for 24 years, and have six children. God is good.
