As the son of Calvin, a mason, I have fond memories of accompanying him to work from a young age. He later transitioned to a general contractor, building numerous homes. I assisted him by hauling bricks, blocks, and cement, helping with any task he had. I was always there to help when he built homes; I believe I drilled my first electrical hole when I was just 7. Honestly, as I grew older, I developed a dislike for construction and sought other opportunities. While attending college, I took a job with an electrical contractor that was supposed to last only three days. Things went well, and I completed the work in a day and a half. He mentioned that I could continue working if I kept myself busy. I found that I truly enjoyed the work and had a knack for electrical wiring. Since I wanted to marry soon, I left school and worked full-time as an electrician. More than 20 years later, I run my own business, have enjoyed 24 years of marriage, and have six children. I feel blessed.
