As the son of Calvin, a mason, I have fond memories of accompanying him to work from a young age. Later, he shifted to general contracting, where he built a variety of homes. I assisted him by hauling bricks, blocks, and cement, helping with any task he had. When he built homes, I was there to lend a hand; I think I drilled my first electrical hole at age 7. Honestly, as I grew older, I developed a dislike for construction and sought other opportunities. While in college, I started a job with an electrical contractor that was initially intended to last only three days. I did well and wrapped up the work in a day and a half. He mentioned that I could continue working if I kept myself busy. I realized I loved the work and had a talent for electrical wiring. Since I wanted to marry soon, I left school and worked full-time as an electrician. More than 20 years later, I run my own business, have enjoyed 24 years of marriage, and have six children. God is good.
