In 1949, Jackson Electric began by Tennis and Alma Jackson, and has been a dependable provider of electric and security services in the West Alabama region for over 65 years. Residential and commercial security services were initiated as part of the electrical services in 1953.

During 1972 Chuck Turner join as a co-owner of Tennis Jackson Electric Company and expanded intrusion detection design and setup. In 1978 the separation of the firm's security services from the electric side, and in 1982 it became JSS. During that year, JSS purchased a local security firm in the Tuscaloosa area.

In 1988, he purchased both the electric and security services and integrated the companies. In 1992, his son, Brad Turner was designated to the role of Vice President of Jackson Security Services, and in 2000, Essary was recruited as the VP and General Manager.

In 2014, Jackson Electric Services merged with a similar company in the Tuscaloosa vicinity. Currently, Jackson Security Services remains its commitment to excellence. Jim Essary is still guiding the company as the VP and General Manager.
