I have some outlets that are not working in my home. I decided to work with Zair Electric because Daniel gave me a very reasonable quote ""$75 flat rate"" on Yelp.

My appointment is 5pm. They came in at 7 pm, 2 hours late. The two technicians spent about 5 minutes checking the four broken outlets. It seems to be a minor issue so they started working on it (it took them about 20 mins to fix it). I was pretty happy with the efficient work until I saw Daniel's message saying the new cost is $250. We argued over the phone. It turns out the ""$75 flat rate"" is for estimation only. But he never cared to explain it in the quote or in our conversation before.

Daniel did offer not to charge anything but change the wires to broken status. In the end, we paid him what he asked for, $250, because I don't want to go through the trouble finding an electrician again.

Thinking back, the ""$75 flat rate"" might be a trick for them to attract customers. I just saw another one star review mentioning the ""$75 flat rate"". The real cost $250 is comparable or even slightly higher to other quotes I got. However, for similar costs, I guess most people would prefer to work with honest business owners.
