In 1988, Bernie Murphy founded West Coast Electrical & Lighting Services in Fort Myers, Florida, and he remains at the helm of the company today, which was originally named ""West Coast Fire Equipment."" Initially, Bernie and his team concentrated on supplying fire alarms and extinguishers to businesses and residential areas, but they quickly broadened their scope to include emergency lighting and various types of commercial lighting.

They prioritize safety and avoid taking shortcuts. Our commitment to high standards sets us apart from other electrical firms, which has fueled our success for more than 25 years.

In January 1981, I entered the fire equipment field, just a week after finishing high school, by taking a position at Fountain Fire Equipment in Ft Myers, FL. After eight years of advancing as far as I could within the company, I decided to launch my own business, which I did in December 1988, naming it West Coast Fire Equipment, Inc. I have managed this business for the last 27 years with success. In 1990, I started providing lighting products and repair services under the fire equipment brand, and the business grew until I launched a new company, West Coast Lighting of SW FL, in January 2001. In 2015, we rebranded to West Coast Electrical & Lighting Services to better represent our current offerings. I am trained in using specialized tools to identify electrical issues and bring over 25 years of experience to the table. We are the go-to company when others cannot resolve the issue.
