Tri County Electric Cooperative
Company Overview
I want to emphasize the key contrasts between our electric cooperative compared to for-profit utilities. It may surprise you that our members possess a true Bill of Rights which encompasses the right to receive dependable, affordable, and safe electric power and the right to come together to establish and run a not-for-profit electric service. In a cooperative model, each customer receive just and equal treatment. This equitable treatment is made possible not just by management and staff, but also through a Board of Trustees chosen by our community. This represents consumer security at its best. Additionally, cooperatives operate under seven foundational principles that ensure members receive fair attention from the utility they support. These principles include fairness, open access, member control, independence, education, training, and information, along with cooperation between cooperatives which allows for the strength of combined initiatives to be utilized for the benefit of the cooperative community. The final principle focuses on community well-being. While cooperatives prioritize, they remain dedicated in bettering the neighborhoods they serve.
