Tri County Electric Cooperative
Company Overview
Let me start by highlighting the key contrasts between our electric cooperative and investor-owned utilities. You may not realize that our members are granted an authentic Bill of Rights featuring the right to access dependable, affordable, and safe electric power and the right to collaborate to create and manage a not-for-profit electric service. In our cooperative structure, every member are afforded fair and equal consideration. This fairness is achieved not just by management and staff, but also through a Board of Trustees elected by the members. This represents consumer security at its best. Moreover, cooperatives are guided by seven principles which guarantee equitable treatment for members from the service they collectively own. These guiding principles consist of equity, accessibility, member oversight, self-sufficiency, learning, training, and information sharing, including collaboration among cooperatives which allows for the strength of combined initiatives to be utilized for the benefit of our cooperative members. The last of these principles emphasizes community support. Although cooperatives place members first, they are also actively engaged in bettering the neighborhoods they serve.
