Let me start by highlighting the key contrasts that set our cooperative apart and traditional investor-owned utilities. You might not know that our members possess an authentic Bill of Rights which encompasses the right to receive trustworthy, budget-friendly, and safe electrical service along with the right to unite to establish and run a not-for-profit electric service. In a cooperative model, each customer are treated fairly and equitably. This is accomplished through the efforts of our management and team, but also by a Board of Trustees chosen by our community. This is a prime example of the pinnacle of consumer security. Additionally, cooperatives adhere to seven foundational principles that provide members receive fair attention from the utility they support. The principles encompass fairness, open access, member control, independence, education, training, and information, including mutual support among cooperatives which allows for the benefits of united actions to work towards the advantage of the cooperatives. The final principle centers on community welfare. Although cooperatives place members first, they remain dedicated in enhancing the towns and communities they serve.
