Let me start by highlighting the key contrasts between our electric cooperative and traditional investor-owned utilities. You might not know that our members possess an authentic Bill of Rights that includes the right to obtain dependable, affordable, and safe electric power and the right to collaborate to form and operate a not-for-profit electric service. In a cooperative model, all consumers are treated fairly and equitably. This is accomplished through the efforts of our management and team, but also through a Board of Trustees elected by the members. This represents the highest standard of consumer protection. Moreover, cooperatives are guided by seven principles which guarantee just attention for consumers from the service they collectively own. These guiding principles consist of fairness, open access, member control, independence, education, training, and information, along with collaboration among cooperatives that facilitates the power of collective efforts to work towards the advantage of our cooperative members. The concluding principle focuses on community well-being. While cooperatives prioritize, they remain dedicated to improving the communities they support.
