On Wednesday morning, the main circuit blew at our house. We called TLC because another website gave them a much higher rating than they have on YELP. Wish we had checked here first. They came out to do the initial diagnosis and they said we had to pay $400 whether we used them or not. We had to pay $1,400+ to have the main breaker replaced. I found out from some other places I called after TLC left that day that most electrical companies charge less than that to replace an entire panel. Won't be calling TLC again.
I called them to install a Tesla wall charger. Was quoted $5400.00. That's down from $6200.00- they were giving me a discount. The tech, Kevin said that there was a stud next to my existing breaker panel and he couldn't install a sub panel next to the existing (full) panel. Would have to cut the top plate, go up in the attic and run cables. None of this needed to be done- there was no stud in the way of him installing a sub panel next to the main panel. When he told me the price, I paid the service call fee of $69 and sent him on his way. I had the panel installed a few days later for $1500.00. I just got a call from their office asking me if I still wanted to have the work done. Apparently communication is an issue for them along with incredibly high prices.
DO NOT USE this company for pool equipment repairs! I would give them a 0 if I could. Had their tech at my house 2 days ago. I had to tell him the diagnosis 3 times and then He wanted me to buy their solution which was a $3400 pump install. Just for the quote I had to pay $69. I complained to the office and they would not do anything. I had LESLIES POOL REPAIR come out the next day and they had everything fixed for $200.
BEWARE! I called this company and was told there would be a $69 service call to check electrical wiring on a new pool pump I had installed. The next appointment I could get was 3 business days after I called with a 4 hour arrival window from 12:00 to 4:00. When the tech finally arrived at 4:45 I was immediately told that the $69 service call just got him to my door and that it would be an additional $80 for him to diagnose the problem. I begrudgingly agreed and after a few minutes the tech said I had a bad breaker. He recommended replacing the entire breaker box which I refused. He then said he could replace the breaker but it would be an additional $450. I thought $600 extremely high to replace a breaker so I paid the $150 up front cost and told him I would find someone else.
Beware!!! Phones this company on a Friday and set up an appointment for following Wednesday between 12 and 4 PM. At 3:45 I received a call that the technician would not be here for another hour. When he showed up an hour and a half later, I was immediately told there would be an additional $89.00 diagnostic charge added to the $69.00 service call before he even looked at the equipment. When he finally decided I had a bad breaker, he wanted to change out the entire breaker box. When I refused he said he could try replacing breaker at an additional expense of $550.00. In total $700.00 to change a breaker seemed ridiculous and I sent him packing. DO NOT use this company!!!
Be aware, these guys are crazy expensive. They wanted to charge us 1000 to diagnose and then replace a single breaker at our house. On top of the $69 service call charge. I had several other sizeable things we needed done, but I didn't even bother.
Extremely unethical technicians! Try to up-charge 10x because they assume you have no idea about anything. For how many electricians are out there - def pick another company!
Former employee of this god forsaken company. Had to leave on short notice to take care of a family matter and company immediately cut my insurance even though I stated I'd be back within a couple weeks! Never received my last paycheck, and techs are paid on a scale depending on weekly sales... I would never recommend anyone to this company, met many good people/customers while working there though. Worked for the company less than 6 months, but had great reviews from customers as seen in other reviews. First time writing a review regarding a former employer, and only wrote this due to how I was treated. Other reviews are spot on regarding this company, they want techs to upsell all customers and are way overpriced, they rely on the rich people in the southlake area to not pay attention to the overpriced services. I'd recommend never working for this company unless you are a green journeyman and absolutely need the experience, you won't be making anything close to the money other commercial electrical companies pay their experienced licensed techs. Apologies for the rant, but after about a year of not working there. Felt like I'd add my 2 cents to the conversatio...
This is the most awful dishonest company I have ever used. My pool pump was out and I found them on google advertised as a pool electrician. I called and they told me it would be $69 to come out which I agreed to. What they don't tell you is that you then have to pay a diagnostic fee on top of that and that is not used towards the work. The technician said I was told about that fee on the call (I was not), but at that point I wanted my pool fixed because it was green. The diagnostic fee was $233 because I bought the VIP membership for $99 (without buying the VIP membership the fee would have been more). The technician was here for 8 hours (yes 8 hours) and replaced a breaker for $268 more dollars and a gang bell box for $439 and that is all he did in 8 hours. He did not even figure out what the problem was and left at 9pm without the pump working. He didn't really say whether he would come back to try to fix it, but we honestly did not want him to come back because he only fixed two things in eight hours and we had spent $1,088 at that point with the diagnostic fee, two repairs, and vip membership and he still had not fixed the issue. We had another electrician come out that said the problem was that the pool pump capacitor was out and it was an easy fix. Of course, TLC Electric will take no responsibility. Do not use them...just google the price of a breaker and gang bell box and you will realize how dishonest they are and unfairly priced they are. Worst company ever!!
Called to have them install 2 light switch timers and an electrical box, which already had power. Charged service fee of $69, $99 ""membership fee"" and charges of $189 for box and $124 for each of the timers (2), which we had. All that was needed was to connect the switches and install box. Here for a total of 1.5 hours and charged $585 for a job that should have cost no more than a few hundred at the most. Call around and get prices from several companies before you settle on them. They did the job but it was way too costly.
