Wish I had read all reviews before contacting TLC. Asked for a quote to replace a pool light. They charged $49 dispatch fed, $173 diagnostics plus $99 customer protection plan that you have to pay for before receiving the quote. Total $303!.70. This was all verbal and you have to sign on an iPad. Received a quote for $3,800+ .... To fix a pool lamp! Then we received another quote for $8,000+!!! Again, to replace a pool lamp! Unbelievable!
Called another electrician, who came out for free to give an estimate and returned in a couple of days and fixed the light in two hours for $500!!!

I was in need of a service call to repair an electrical circuit problem located in an outlet in my garage. This problem was not affecting any other electrical service anywhere inside of the house itself, and was limited to one bad electrical outlet, in the garage. I contacted TLC Electric and spoke to a woman who later stated, after the fact, that she was only a dispatcher and not a manager nor a person of authority. She stated that she could send a technician and would call me with a time of arrival. I gave her my wife's phone number, in the event that she could not reach me, while teaching. I asked for information regarding fees for the service, and was told about the dispatch fee and the remaining charges for work that would be done. I was never told about a ""diagnostic fee."" The technician contacted my wife directly, and no one returned my call as I had requested. The technician went to my home and proceeded to visually inspect the situation in my garage, Before he would do any real work, he told my wife that he must first complete a thorough ""DIAGNOSTICS"" which was a ""STANDARD"" fee of $ 325.00. My wife, who has just returned from Houston after undergoing 12 rounds of Chemo and 35 days of radiation for Cancer, was then, advised to purchase an additional VIP Customer Protection Plan for $99.00 by this technician turned salesman. My wife signed this VIP document, after being told that it would save her money on the bill, and also provide a guarantee on the service rendered. My wife did not have a clue about what this service should cost were it done by any other legitimate contractor. In my opinion,TLC Electrical Contractors did knowingly take advantage of my wife's situation, did not re-contact me as I asked, prior to arrival, made minor repairs and charged $472.00 for less than 2 hours worth of service.
This is their guarantee... ""100% Satisfaction Guaranteed We want you to feel that you have made the best choice in choosing TLC. Our goal is to turn your expense into an experience that is better than you expected. If you don't have a great service experience we will make it right for you. Give us a call, we want you to be happy."" NOT TRUE... I disputed the bill before I paid and again immediately after.
TLC states on their website... and hires new technicians with this promise...

We believe happy electricians make the best team members. Earn more in less time...Beware of over charging and adding $325.00 Diagnostic fees...Check the internet for reviews and complaints.

I don't write a lot of reviews. I think this is my second one but I had an outstanding experience with TLC and wanted to share it, especially in light of the other reviews I saw here.

My wife wanted to upgrade the lighting in our home with LED fixtures and lighting strips inside the kitchen cabinets so I needed someone with experience in LED lighting. I asked TLC to send someone who could explain the various options in LED brightness, temperature and appearance. The young man they sent, James, was terrific. His knowledge of LED products is deep so he was able to take our general description of what we wanted and show us multiple options to chose from. He even installed multiple fixtures so we could select the one we liked best.

I haven't hired an electrician in many years so I didn't know what to expect. I can say hands down, James and his associate from TLC surpassed all my expectations. They arrive as scheduled in pressed white shirts. They insisted on wearing shoe covers every time they enter the house and were meticulous at cleaning the dust and sheet rock that fell to the floor after each installation. I didn't know what to expect but their professionalism and desire to get us exactly what we want reminded me more of a consultant than my previous impression of a typical electrician.

We plan to live in our house for many more years so our priority was making the right decision regarding LED upgrades. I didn't find the prices to be out of line with my expectations and the customer service was second to none. In short, we got what we paid for and are proud of our new lighting. I highly recommend James at TLC to anyone looking for a similar solution.

I had TLC Electric out today for an estimate to replace my Federal Pacific electrical panel. This is a job that typically costs between $1,700 and $2,500. I had it done in my last house by Milestone Electric for $2,200 but that also included a lot of extras.

TLC Electric quoted me, I'm not kidding, $8,373. That is the most ridiculous estimate I've ever gotten for any work performed on any house that I've owned in my life. When I received the estimate I literally thought that it was a joke and that maybe I was on a camera show of some kind. Nope. That's really what they wanted.

They charged me almost $70 just to come out and give me this asinine quote. I wouldn't give this company my business if they were the only electricians in the world. It would be cheaper for me to go to school to become an electrician myself. They wanted to charge me $4,400 for the box itself, which I can purchase at Home Depot for $225. Unbelievable. Outrageous.

Four hours after they came I had another company come out and they replaced my box for $1,650.

Stay away from their expert evaluation of your heat pump system.

Was quoted $3500 + to replace faulty heat pump by TLC certified expert.

Then I paid Claffey Pool to inspect the heat pump and the only problem was the ignition switch for gas was off. Fixed it immediately and the tech was not a so called expert.

TLC apologized for their elementary mistake inspecting the heat pump and reimbursed me their inspection fee and I was able to cancel their membership for ""discounts.""

Bottom line. Be cautious and obtain a second opinion before agreeing on having TLC perform expensive repairs, which may be unnecessary.

Please stay away from them, they charged me $70 just come to my door step. For diagnostics asked for another $350. I just told them take my 70 and please do not reap me anymore. I do not recommend them at all.

$797.00 for 4 GFCI plugs? They will not give you the pricing over the phone. Instead charge you $69 to apparently come out and give you a price. When you get the price which is printed in their giant price book, you will need to sit down. I've never dealt with a service company that has such terrible business practices. Also they warranty the work they do if you pay a $99 VIP customer protection plan fee.

I received horrible service. I will not be calling TLC Electrical ever again. The serviceman simply said that he could not fix the swimming pool and refused to provide a reasonable explanation. However, the company did manage to collect the amount for service even though they did not fix anything. They even tried to sell us completely new equipment that we did not need. It turns out the swiming pool was able to be fixed by a different company. I cannot believe this company. TLC is the worst service I have ever received
