Gerry is great! Very sincere, professional, thorough and detailed. You immediately get the sense that he is a trustworthy contractor and a master at his craft.

I've contacted Gerry twice for his services. Last year I had problems with my subpanel, and he came over within a few hours and fixed it quickly at a reasonable price.

I contacted him again recently, because the lights in the entire house were flickering off and on for days. He told me he was really busy and wasn't sure of his schedule, but he texted me through the day to let me know when he would be done with his other stops. I liked how he took the time to educate me on different electrical topics related to the issues, so I can better understand the problem. He was at the house for a quick 15 minutes and realized it was a problem that had to be fixed by Edison (I live in a townhouse, and there are probably issues with the electrical feed from the city). He initially charged me a really low rate, since he had to come out and do the service call. But he later ripped up the check, and told me to keep him posted on the outcome. He also gave me estimates on a couple of other projects I was looking to do.

I really appreciated him coming out despite his hectic schedule. It was totally unexpected that he decided not to charge me for his consultation. Thank you so much!!

Great experience from the beginning. Gerry got back to me immediately after I contacted him about possibly moving a few light switches, and installing an outlet. He came over to give me an estimate. Scheduled the work for the next week, he showed up right on time, talked me out of making some unnecessary changes, then put in two outlets without punching too many extra holes in the wall--no drywall patching necessary! Yay! Stayed right on estimate. Definitely recommend him.

We called Thistle a few months ago to do a complete rewire and service panel update on a house built in 1948. (They used knob & tube back then). Gerry and his team are the ultimate professionals. From a detailed written estimate, to the final inspection, everything was on-time, clearly explained and within budget. Gerry was very through and informative regarding all phases of our project. He was physically involved almost everyday. Everyone was tidy and very courteous, even when our furniture sometimes gave them little room to work. It was truly refreshing to have a company that would do such a great job. Thistle will get any and all my electrical work from now on.

It was a pleasure working with Gerry C and his crew. I have vaulted beam ceilings and needed electricity run on them and 2 drop ceilings for light fixtures, an outdoor electrical outlet, upgrades to GFI outlets, installation of new light fixtures and dimmer switches, enclosing my ventilating skylight wiring, and troubleshooting of two outlets.

Gerry responded and followed up with my inquiry relatively quickly. Within a week he came out to check out the job site, and prepared a professional written estimate. He did leave a couple of items out of the estimate and was too busy to revise the estimate before showing up for the job. I would have preferred having the numbers laid out more clearly before job start. At the same time, I recognize that some things cannot be known at the time of the estimate and so a contractor may keep buffers in their estimates in case of any changes. Either way, you have to let him know what your comfort level is with that.

He and his crew of two were very professional. They cleaned up after themselves. I cleared the area of any clutter so that they could move any pieces of furniture that they would need to. They placed plastic drop cloth throughout the rooms where they were working, and removed it promptly and vacuumed up their work areas after they finished each room. They did not patch and paint the holes that were made in the walls (we agreed that his would be ok beforehand), but did replace the drywall cut-outs in a way that it made it relatively easy for us to patch and repaint those areas of the wall ourselves. He advised me on how to do the patching. I have textured walls, and he explained that I needed to reapply the texture. I was familiar with this but found his instructions helpful. I also had to patch a popcorn ceiling and reapply texture. They completed their work with minimal damage to my walls and ceilings.The crew installed junction boxes on my walls near the vaulted ceilings. The boxes sit on the surface of the wall (about 1"" thick )and are not recessed, and the electrical wires were enclosed in a squarish linear molding that ran along my beams. They blend in with my white ceiling. The ceiling lights look great in all the rooms; all the dimmer switches are working; and all of the work looks clean, neat and professional. The outdoor outlet and all of the switch plates/switches turned out great and look very nice. One of the troubleshooted outlets could not be repaired because it was too hard to get behind the refrigerator. I appreciate that he was concerned about damaging my floors.

I also appreciated that Gerry communicated clearly, and checked in frequently with me while working to make sure that their work was meeting my vision for the project. He did not do un-neccessary extra work, and was helpful and reasonable. I would highly recommend Thistle Electric.

Thistle Electric was the answer to our problems! We had hired a handy man who screwed up our track lights and we didn't realize he was unlicensed until he was already 1/2 way through the job. After he finished installing the track lights we just didn't have a good feeling. We decided to find a real professional to make sure everything was done right. We found Gerry at Thistle Electric on Yelp and he came over and found all of the mistakes which were all quite serious! He fixed our panel, replaced the light switch so it could handle how many watts our lights bulbs were etc and gave us a lot of other good advice. He truly saved us from a potential fire hazard and we are truly grateful. We will ONLY use Thistle Electric from this point on.

PLEASE don't hire someone that is unlicensed as we did to do electrical in your home! Do yourself a favor and call Thistle Electric. Gerry truly is the real deal and a super nice guy as well.

I expect any electrician to be able to perform the job I had done (new outlet) but several things set Thistle apart. From initial call to arrival at my house they were immediate on communication. Second, they were clean and extremely respectful of my house. And finally, they were both kind and professional. If that wasn't enough the charge was about $100 less than I expected. Very happy with the service and will use again.

Gerry and his team did a A+ plus job for my mother in laws place in Manhattan Beach. Installed a new 200. Amp panel in a flash and didn't overcharge due to her zip code. I had called other electricians to do the job but they all sent out sub contractors to her house. Gerry talked with me on the phone and then came out himself to look the situation over. The install was performed by Gerry and his very capable assistant. Love this local owned and operated business.
