Recommended Customer Reviews

I feel like perhaps there's something wrong with ME that I'm posting a two star review amongst all the other four star reviews, but I feel like they need to improve their internal and external communications (perhaps hiring office help to schedule appointments, prepare and send detailed quotes, and communicate to staff about jobs, etc.). I called the number on their website to request an appointment for a quote. This is apparently Sergio's cell phone. He set the appointment right then and there, but asked me to text the date/time to him so that it would get calendared. That's fine. No problem. Sergio showed up on time. I explained the electrical problems I was having, and he said he'd send me a quote later the same day. In and out in just a few minutes. But I didn't get the quote that day. Mid afternoon the next day, I texted Sergio back, inquiring about the quote, and he said he didn't have my email address. After providing it, I received my quote promptly. $300 to replace a ballast + 2 LED tubes, and replace two light fixtures. I replied back to the email approving the quote and providing dates I could be available for the repairs to be done. No reply. After 5 more days of no response, I texted to follow up about scheduling an appointment. He responded promptly and we worked out a date. Two employees came to do the actual repairs (They were courteous, efficient, and generally likable guys.) However, after replacing the ballast, they were ready to pack up and leave. Apparently, only the information about replacing the ballast (but not the other two light fixtures) had been communicated to them. I explained the problem I'd been having with the other two fixtures, but after testing the voltage and eyeballing the wiring and breaker box, they concluded that nothing was wrong with the fixtures and they didn't need to be replaced. Then comes the invoice. For the original $300. I pointed out the price included the replacement of the two fixtures that they said didn't need to be replaced. After he called Sergio to get an adjusted price, he came back with a price of $275. Last year I had a ballast replaced by a different company for only $85. I don't know, maybe they have a minimum service charge? If so, that wasn't communicated to me. Maybe the labor rate for testing the voltage and putting in a couple of light bulbs warranted the full cost minus $25? Could be.....but the labor charge isn't itemized in any way on the quote (no hourly rate, no piece rate, etc.), so how am I to know.
In conclusion,....be prepared to be the one following up each step of the way. And make sure you know enough about electrical repair and rates to know what questions to ask.

Surge Electric really came through for us. We needed some lights and ceiling fans installed. They were super professional and did awesome work. We are so happy with the results! I would definitely recommend them.

Chris was out same day, shared some good information about the condition of our wiring and fixed our issue at a reasonable cost. We plan to use Surge for all our electrical needs in the future.

We called Surge Electric because we had a problem with a ceiling fan. Although it wasn't an emergency, they were able to squeeze us in. They kept us posted about their arrival when they found that they were running a bit late. They quickly diagnosed the problem. It was a much simpler problem than we thought. Once diagnosed, the electrician asked my husband if my husband thought that he could fix it. My husband said yes. The electrician outlined the part that was needed and told him that it was available at most hardware stores. My husband fixed the problem and we were not charged for the visit. Who provides that kind of service these days? They are honest competent, and helpful people. They are now our 'go to' electricians.

I *adore* Sergio and his crew of electricians. I got to spend A LOT of time with Chris and Tim, with Sergio checking in a couple times. Sergio is great at texting, phoning, generally playing phone tag. He'll come see your site, work up an estimate and get it to you. If he doesn't get it to you in 24 hours, all you have to do is ask--because they are busy all the time. Not ignoring you!
Let's see...the first job they did for us, they were in for two days and they grounded a bunch of outlets and got us functional. We bought a delightful home with original electrical from 1938 and onward. Knob and tube, and more. (One of Chris and Tim's favorite things to do while working was to come over and show me the terrifying and antiquated wiring or weirdo home-brew splicing. It's the electrician's equivalent to ""Is this milk bad? Smell it!"") They get bonus points for working in our nasty attic--before we got it cleaned out! The second job just finished. They were with us for a week. Yes, a week of full days because that's what it takes to do the surgically precise job they did on replacing ALL the wiring in our home. All the knob and tube out, all the weird, home-brew wiring rectified, a bunch of lighting fixtures re-wired or replaced. Indoor work. Exterior work. Work in husband's shop to make sure his tools don't blow the whole system. Look: these guys have done $14,000.00 of work for us and it is worth every penny. Quality work like this by qualified tradesmen is going to cost and it's not as glamorous or visibly fun as paint and tile. But none of that matters if you can't run your electronics or live in terror of your house catching fire! They managed to replace all this wiring with minimal damage to our drywall, always checked in with me about what they were doing and how, were tidy, friendly, and just a DELIGHT to have in the house. By the end of the week, my kiddo was asking if he'd get to see Chris and Tim after school and was knocking on the floor and calling to Tim when he was under the house. Both guys were really kind to him, which is always nice. Great senses of humor, easy going, and tolerant. So many times they'd check in with me in the middle of a job, and I'd say to Chris ""OH, wait, I meant to tell you/ask you about doing [SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT]"" They'd make it work, every time. I'm so grateful that my real estate agent introduced me to Surge Electric and will sing their praises to all.
Oh, and give your contractors coffee. Let them use the bathrooms. Be humane.

Can't say enough positive things for Sergio, Chris and Tim. Needed a car charger installed and Sergio was again fast and prompt with the bid. Tim and Chris came out today to install. Fast friendly service. Reassessed the install and came up with a quicker, cleaner installation. Couldn't be happier. Very profession and thorough. Took such pride in their work and aesthetics and not just ""get in, get out"". Enjoy working with these guys. Again, 5 stars isn't enough!

Hired Surge Electric to run a new circuit for our electric dryer. They were prompt to deliver, reasonably priced, and professional throughout the process.
If I have future electrical needs, I know who to call.

What a fair priced, responsive and friendly experience I was fortunate enough to have with this crew. I had no AC due to issues with my entrance wire. I needed someone who opened early...called them at 0645 and Sergio was there within a half hour. His crew was there by 0930 and the work done by 1030. I took care of getting the needed permit and setting up the inspection with the city which is who I ended up waiting on but either way, I had my AC back same day. Guarantee this is who I will go to for all of my electrical needs. If you're researching electricians I would say you can stop here. Call Surge Electric.

Sergio was very responsive and provided a reasonable quote after I texted him pictures and a description of my job. He was able to schedule 2 service techs on short notice and they finished the work quickly and professionally. I'm very pleased with the work and will definitely use Surge again.

So happy we called Surge Electric! Sergio was able to come out a couple hours after calling him and fixed a burnt socket with professionalism and great customer service! We were so happy with him that we asked him to come back and put in recessed lights and a ceiling lamp, everything looks clean and professional! Sergio's customer service is second to none! Glad we finally found someone we can trust and depend on when it comes to electrical needs!
