Madonna G.I have pre-wired smoke alarms installed in my home. All of them have a 9v battery which needs to be changed regularly. Last night one of them was chirping and therefore I assumed it needed a new battery. I keep several in the house for these inconvenienced times. Once replaced, the chirping did not stop. I read the manual and the only other solution was to have the unit replaced with a new device, as the shelf life is ~ 10 years and mine were over 15 yrs old. I decided to call an Electrician to get a rough estimate to find out how much it would cost to just replace the units and I will buy the new ones, myself. There would be NO installation or any wiring needed as this was already done. When I called the number that was listed in this one page ad in the yellow pages phone book WE JUST received for 2023, the call went to vm and the number on the vm was NOT the same as the number I dialed! 1st BAD Business practice! When I called a 2nd time same thing happened, and the third time someone answered BUT DID NOT greet me with the name of the business so I asked if I was speaking to Snell Electric and he said YES. I asked him to quote me for the work and was very specific and detailed as to not confuse or mislead him. This was the price he gave me: The first alarm replacement would cost $300 and every unit thereafter would cost $150 each!!! I was prepared to be railroaded with the price BUT certainly not this badly! I, once again, told him what he would be doing (just in case he didn't understand me, as his English was terrible) and at that time he said I should find someone else right before he HUNG UP ON ME! Had this been a few years ago, I would have just let this go! BUT THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. I am done with these people who think they can screw everyone over and get away with it without any repercussions. There was a time not too long ago where great service was paramount to any business, and this clearly is not a place where they practice this much diminished business protocol that needs to make a COMEBACK! Needless to say, I will post this to all of my social media accounts and the most important one will be the site that hits the entire neighborhood and surrounding areas/cities! SELLER BEWARE! START TREATING YOUR CUSTOMERS AND POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS WITH RESPECT AND DON'T ASSUME ALL OF US ARE GOING TO ACCEPT YOUR PRICES JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK WE ARE DESPERATE OR LIMITED TO RESOURCES!
Very professional and excellent service done by Mr Sarkany of Snell Electric. No beating around the bush , he explained to us what needed to be done when we needed a new converter box. We appreciate him coming over all the way from the East Bay to the Peninsula at such short notice. Set up a temp fix while waiting for the necessary permits and had the new converter box in place quick when they were issued. All the time we were treated in a professional manner and straight forward great service. We had our final inspection done yesterday and everything is a go from PGE and the city. Thank you Mr Sarkany of Snell Electric. I highly recommend their services if you have electrical problems. 5 stars rating worth from me.
I had Sarkany in to install a electric light outside . Also to install a ground wire to an outlet about 10 inches away. He quoted me an outrageous price of $750. I asked about a senior discount and he said $700. I thought it was too much, but he fast talked me into it. I am an 86 year old man. He was finished in about an hour. I paid him by check for $700. The next day after doing some checking around and found I could have had it done much cheaper I called Sarkany and he came by my house and said he had only charged me $450. I showed him his receipt and it showed it was 700. He argued with me but finally refunded me $200. I took the money because I figured it was better than nothing. My advice if you hire this guy to do any work for you check around first. You can doo much better than his prices.
Marilys T.I'd like to give a big shout out to Snell Electric and especially Tibor who did an excellent job today installing a new ceiling fan. He worked very hard and didn't leave until the job was finished. I would hire this company any time and ask for Tibor. Thank you so much for doing such an outstanding job.
I'm a Maintenance Electrician by trade who is 80 years old. I did electric trouble shooting for over 50 years. Because of medical problems I NO longer have the manual dexterity to climb in attics or in crawl spaces under my house.
I lost the Neutral circuit to one of my house circuits and my neighbor attempted to crawl around in my attic to find the problem of the circuit it was on . He is not electrically knowledgeable and could NOT find the place that it was at. I called out Snell Electric and a man came out and went through the process of trying to locate the problem using a TIC tester that are famously known for lying about live circuits. He made NO attempt to go into the attic where the problem was. He offered to run me in a new circuit for $800.00. I told him politely to put his offer where the sun doesn't shine.
Finally I used my brain and, with the help of my next door neighbor, fixed the problem for one(1) hours labor and $18.00 of wire.
Don't use this ripoff business.
David M.Called for an emergency fuse replacement. My electrical system is fifty years old! Snell took care of business in less than two hours - and they saved all the food in my refrigerator
I should have read Yelp first. I guess I should count my lucky stars that they were a no show. Just wasted a day of vacation.
Ruth S.Mr. Satkany replaced two electrical breakers for me. He came
to my house acting as if he was very busy and in a hurry. He fast
talked the problem and I am guessing because of the questions
I asked he knew I had no electrical background.
He told me his price was $400 for a service call and to replace
the breakers. I am at fault for not doing my homework, however
he knowingly took advantage of the situation. It took him about
10 Min. to do the wiring, and he was gone.
I asked for a card which had a LIC # on it, he wrote out an invoice with
the name of his company on it, and he first asked for cash than took a check.
If you or your company reads this review...shame on you Mr. Satkany,
I have nothing positive to say about you or your company to my
friends or neighbors.
DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY OR THIS MAN FOR ANY REASON.
Shame on you Mr. Satkany !!!
Mo M.I hired Tibor to do 5 different jobs (of various degrees of difficulties) around my house. I was very happy with his workmanship. He wouldn't take shortcuts or agree to anything that was not according to code. He was reasonable and honest and didn't try to upsell, add, or modify the original agreement even when new things pop up which they always do especially with 5 items.
Lisa N.My husband blew the power to our condo and since it was 9:30 pm, I had to call an after hours electrician which was Snell Electic. Over the phone Tibor quoted me $105 for the trip charge and $60 per 1/2 hour of fixing the problem.
When he arrived, he did some troubleshooting and told us that he needed access to the main electrical switch and that it would cost us $300 if he restores the power. What?! So basically he tried to price gauge us when he knew we would be defenseless and needing the power restored. What happened to $60 per 1/2 hour? Really though? $300 to flip a damn switch?
We didn't know where the main electrical panel to our community was so we paid the freaking trip charge and sent him on his way!
