Clay and Jeff did an outstanding job of installing the charger for my Tesla. My neighbor had recommended this company so I gave them a try and am glad that I did. Scott gave me a few different options and we settled for what was best for me.
Clay was delayed due to a traffic accident and he kept me updated to ensure I understood why they were late. This was much appreciated so I could plan my day.
The installation was perfect and Clay was extremely considerate of my garage. It was cleaner when he left after the installation than when he arrived. Clay kept me involved in the decision making on a few of the options as to where the box could be located and everything else.
Bottom line is that I could not have been happier. Professional, courteous, and considerate describes this company and they have my strongest recommendation.

I recently moved near Austin from near Kansas City. I asked many people who they would recommend for an electrician to install a NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage for my electric car. I was getting no where fast. I joined a local electric car club google group and one person replied back regarding Smart Charge America. I went to their website and filled out the information. They ask for photos of main and sub panels, where I wanted the outlet in the garage, and other items. After I submitted everything I received a text message. We went back and forth via text then moved to email where he would email me what he thought I wanted and finally after answering all of my questions, we arrived in a price. The time from me saying Yes to them arriving was only a couple of days. The crew of 2 who showed up were very professional and knowledgeable. Their attention to detail / perfection is exactly how I am. I will recommend them to anyone in their many service cities to install their electric car charging equipment.

Just had my EV charger installed today and the service was fantastic. Clay and crew did an amazing job; the installation visually nest and done right. They even installed hangars for the charging cable which I did not expext! The price was also competitive with other quotes I received. I highly recommend this company and Clay to install your EV charger!

Read good reviews and requested a quote from Smart Charge America to install a Tesla Charging station. Got the quote, with the promise in the email - ""If you find a better price out there for your installation we'll beat it...Guaranteed!"".

I also got a quote directly from Tesla, which came in $200 less that Smart Charge. I emailed them back and told them I would like to use them if I could, based on their reviews, but wanted to confirm that they could match our beat that quote. That was 2 weeks ago. I've heard nothing from them. Not - yes we can, not - no we can't, not - go pound sand. Just silence.

Well, message received. You don't care about my business, and you don't want my business. Thanks for wasting my time.

UPDATE - I've increased my rating to 3 stars. Shortly after posting this review, I was contacted by Smart Charge America to apologize for my experience. The gentleman I spoke to was very sorry for the experience, and asked if he could still earn my business. I have another company scheduled to come install the charger tomorrow, so I had to decline his offer. I do however, truly appreciate the effort made on his part to reach out to me and try to correct the issue. It took a very negative experience and turned it into something more positive. I don't know if I will have the occasion to use Smart Charge America again in the future, but I will at least have them as part of my consideration set if that need does arise.

Let me just start off by saying WOW! Absolutely amazing customer service from start to end. I requested a quote online and was in touch with a representative with a quote a few days later. Karina was extremely helpful throughout the quick and easy process and we had a Tesla home charger installed just 2 days later! They even price matched another quote that we received with another company. I highly recommend using this service if you are in the market! 10 stars al the way!

We had our second charger installed at our new place this week, and we relied on Smart Charge again as we knew they would do it right. Clay Johnson and Rudy Ramos were fabulous! We had everything done and charging in about an hour, and it looks great to boot. We highly recommend SmartCharge so you get great products and you know they're installed well.

I got a Tesla wall charger installed in my garage, on the opposite side of the electric breaker panel. My wall charger was ordered directly by me through Tesla but it wasn't delivered on time. Smart charge offered to put their own tesla wall connector and then later take mine whenever it got delivered.

We didn't have to go that route as i got my delivery same day but i appreciated having that option.

Their process of providing estimate is good. It requires uploading photos of your site and then someone reviews it and gets back to you with more questions or clarifications

The installation was smooth and timely and professional. They know what they're doing and recommend you the best practices.

I used Smart Charge for the second time, for a new house with a detached garage. Overall it was a good experience, but I did have one complaint. The conduit was run outside the wall, exposed to the interior room (a garage, but still not ideal), rather than being run inside the wall. This was done without asking me. When I complained, they offered to re-do it, but I would have to pay a drywall company to repair it afterward. I decided that my investment in the charger was enough and I didn't want to deal with finding a drywall company, coordinating it all, the extra cost, etc. This could have been avoided by a better discussion up front about where cables were going to be placed and how the conduit would be run. I will point out that many people have found lower pricing through a regular electrician. But since the city of Austin will pay half for the install and the charger, it's worth it to pay more up front to get the rebate. I also support businesses that get into these new markets, and appreciate the risk they take on - having done it myself in the biodiesel world. I would use them again, but would be more prescriptive in my instructions.

I highly recommend Smart Charge America in Austin, Texas. This week I had a fantastic experience with their installation of a Tesla wall charger. The Initial communication to offer available installation times was simple and helpful. Josh, Travis & Karina arrived and immediately started determining whether the additional sub-panel included on the bid sent via Tesla was necessary. This analysis started without any prompting or questions from me! They evaluated my electrical system and determined my home already had plenty of capacity for my Model3 without expanding the panel. In my case everything was done in 90 minutes. Now I can charge overnight at over 40 miles per hour. Their expertise and integrity saved me significant dollars! This is the way to build a business and make me even more satisfied with buying an electric car. BTW, check out Austin Energy's GreenChoice program which prompts the development of more Texas wind power generation to cover the needs of your home and at minimal additional cost!
