I've used Reliable for years and I'm done with these guys. I feel like the only thing they want to do is sell me new units when I need something trivial. My unit needed two pounds of refrigerant, which is about $30/lb on the open market. They wanted to charge me $174/lb. They thought I may have a small leak in my condenser coils and quoted me $2500. Researching online, the average cost is $600-$1200 for my area. The cost of the actual part is $200. Over and over again, their goal seems to be to come up with outlandish service costs that rival the cost of a new unit so you just give in and buy a new one. When I challenged them on this, the service tech just shrugged and said I should take it up with the corporate office. I'm happy that I have a laptop and internet connection so that I can quickly evaluate things the service techs are telling me.

Reliable provided the best quote for replacement of my central AC and furnace unit. Installed within two days as agreed. Walter and Bush did a great job with the installation which was completed in about four hours.

We received follow-up after I posted my review and had our remaining issues resolved, so 4 stars for the escalation of service -1 for not doing it right the first time and only following up after I posted a negative review. Just glad In the end that our investment in this system is finally functioning properly...

We had our A/C and furnace replaced in our main living area and our basement. The entire crew, Jesse, L.T, David, Fernando and Jesus were very efficient, knowledgeable and very courteous. They performed the install without a problem. They covered all the working areas and walking areas with tarps to keep everything clean. We have new carpeting and there was no problem. We're extremely happy that we chose Reliable.

We had several quotes and chose Reliable. Our new furnace and AC by Trane. The unit offers safety and efficiency to our old ones. They offer a great warranty, fair prices and great service. A special shout out to Jesse and Jesus. They explained the unit, were prompt, cleaned up after themselves and had wonderful manners. These days you're lucky to get one trait but never them all. We would recommend Reliable to anyone! Thanks!

We give Reliable 1 Star because we were able to schedule the appointment and for the most part the Technician showed up during the window of time they gave us. When we set the appointment, we told Reliable that the Circuit Board was bad and needed to be replaced. The Technician confirmed when they arrived it was a bad circuit board, yet they still charged us 89.95 for Diagnostics... then quoted us an additional $558 to replace the Circuit Board for a total of $650. First of all, nearly all contractors will waive the Diagnotics Fee if you agree to do the work with them... not Reliable. Secondly, a Universal Circuit Board costs less than $175... so they charged around $475 for 2 hours of labor. If it wasn't below freezing and our Tenant's weren't freezing their butts off in the home, we would have waited another day to get a more reputable company to come out. After the work was completed we called a few other HVAC Contractors and all quoted us WELL below the $650 price tag... We then called Reliable's Customer No-Service Department to discuss and ask that they drop the Diagnostics Fee... and they basically told us they would give us a small discount on the next job they would do with us. I had used Reliable multiple times in prior years with success... We manage a lot of properties and sell a lot of real estate so we deal with a lot of contractors and know what to expect. My only guess is they have grown so big, they have lost sight of the customer and figured since it was freezing outside we the customer didn't have many choices. There are many other choices for reputable HVAC Contractors in Atlanta. Use Reliable at your own risk.

Called for service as the pilot was out on a comfortmaker 2003 model furnace. The tech was timely and courteous for the visit. He identified the issue but was unable to fix it. Quoted a price and let me know he would get the part and let me know when it could be fixed. As we have young children I let him know the urgency of fixing.
Tech called me back and said the part had to be ""built"" and would not be available until June, which is 3 months later. I felt that was ridiculous and asked if they could find a part elsewhere but was told they could not. Was also advised that if i called anywhere else they would tell me the same thing. I even asked for the part number but was told he did not know.
I felt that they wanted to get me to buy a new unit instead of fixing my existing one. I did some research and found the part online for considerably less expensive in under an hour. When i do need a new unit, which may be soon this company will not earn my business as I felt they tried taking advantage of the situation.

My primary furnace went out on Friday. I contacted Reliable that day and the sale representative was scheduled for the next day. He reviewed my system needs, provided a couple of options for me to review. After getting a competitive bid from another company, I scheduled the install from Reliable and System was installed on Monday. Fortunately for me the weather was mild which give me the opportunity to get a competitive bid. Reliable did a very quick job with the install and was very competitive for the serviced rendered. Will stay with reliable in the future.

I had recently signed up for the Reliable Guard alert system on my Heat Pump heating and cooling system and received an email about a problem in my system. A technician (Ellery) came out the next day, the soonest I was available to be at home. He was very nice, and showed me what he had found--my unit was completely low on Freon due to an internal leak--and explained all my options for repair. The system was old enough to consider replacing, so that's what I decided.
The Reliable salesman Rodney, came out as soon as I was available, and was polite and professional. He went over the estimate thoroughly with me, and spent all the time I needed for questions & concerns. After he left, I decided to reduce the scope of work, and he complied right away and didn't try to talk me out of it. That made me feel that meeting my needs was paramount to him, not the amount of the sale.
The installation crew of Fernando and Shaw E. was also very professional. They worked without stop for about 6 1/2 hours to get the units installed in a tight space, and then thoroughly tested each. They answered my questions cheerfully and completely. They left my place clean and neat, and returned furniture to it's proper place.
I would highly recommend this company.

I had Reliable come out last week because of the early season warm weather I found my upstairs unit wasn't working. The service call was $89 which I was fine with.
After some checking by the technician I was told I had a bad condenser fan motor and that it was going to be an extra $600 to fix.
He said it was because my unit was so old and the parts were hard to come by. So I said, ""really, what does the part cost on line?"" and the technician said he didn't know.
Then he said he would go ahead and have his parts department order it and they would call me when it came in.
I was glad this was the case because it gave me time to check prices online and based upon this the next day I called and cancelled Reliable.
Not only was the exact same motor readily available through multiple websites the prices on line ranged between $144 to $177 dollars.
So, instead of paying somewhere around $700 dollars total I paid about $250 dollars and installed it myself.
That's right! Over $400 dollars savings for less than 1 hours work.
I realize not everyone will be comfortable doing a job like this by themselves. But even if your not a do it yourself person don't accept a rate that makes you think your getting ripped off because you probably are.
Ask questions. Shop around. Don't just be embarrassed or feel helpless and say OK to whatever BS they give you!
Also, remember that if you have an older HVAC system you are a target!
You will be subject to higher prices, sales tactics and pressure to put in a new system.
If you change your filters regularly and clean/spray off your coils at least once a year (BTW these first two are easy to do yourself) as well as make sure your system is charged properly it will add many years of life.
Also, remember things like fan motors and capacitors are easy fixes.
Frankly, I think Reliable is on par if not better than the four other companies I've had service my systems over the years. However, in this case they still deserve a bad review.
Don't expect your trust or loyalty to be rewarded by any of the HVAC companies serving the Gwinnett county area.
