My heater stopped blowing and I couldn't figure out why. I called Reliable and they came out a few hours later. Kevin, the technician, was extremely professional and worked quickly. He even explained everything he did while I observed.
Now my complaint. I can tolerate an $85 service fee for 10 minutes worth of work, BUT $189 for a $40 part is dishonest where I come from. I will never use this company again.

My problems with this company began when I called them out to fix my HVAC unit in my home. The system is about 13 years old and started making a strange squeaking noise. Not knowing what it was, we shut the system down until they could come out and fix it.
They came out the first time and the guy (who seemed totally clueless) took 45 minutes going up and down my stairs from the basement to the thermostat trying to diagnose the problem. He finally got his manager on the phone who mysteriously was able to pinpoint the problem (over the phone) and said it was the thermostat. Hmmm, strange, since that seemed to be working fine. Ok, well, I know nothing about HVAC systems, so I didn't argue. They said the part would be $189 to install. I said I would have to ask my husband. They said ok, well, call us once you talk to him because we need the go-ahead to order the part.
I called them later that day and said to go ahead and order the part. Reliable said they would call us when it came in to schedule the install. Two weeks went by and I didn't hear from them. I finally called them and the customer service person said ""you were supposed to call us once you spoke to your husband...."" (she was literally blaming me for THEIR mistake!). I told them I DID call them....at which point they scheduled the visit for the next day between 12 and 2 with a 30 minute heads-up call. The rest of the experience with them went like this.....
1. The next day, I hadn't heard from them by 1:30. I called and was told ""oh, they just got to the house before yours, it should be about an hour to an hour and a half"". What about my 12-2 window??? Was anyone going to call me and tell me they were running over an hour late??
2. I rescheduled the visit. I told them I needed a more precise window for them to arrive so the customer service rep scheduled me for the first visit of the day, assuring me they would be there before 9am.
3. They day they were supposed to arrive ""before 9am"" I received a call from the technician at 9:15, saying he was about 45 minutes away. WHAT!?! I called the dispatch line and was told ""well, ma'am, I don't know who said they would be there before 9, but our morning window is between 8 and 10. We have to allow for traffic in the city of Atlanta"". WHAT?! You said you would be there by 9, then BE THERE BY 9! Everyone in this city has to account for traffic!!!?? You plan around it!! I cancelled the visit right there and got a ton of attitude (at no point did any of the 4 people I spoke with during this entire process apologize for this nightmare).
The best part was that I called another company who came out two weeks later and told me that there was nothing wrong with the thermostat. It was a completely different issue alltogether. Now it is fixed and running great.....and I'm out $89 to Reliable.
There are a lot of HVAC companies in Atlanta.....do yourself a favor and hire a different one.

I love dealing with competent local business. Reliable did a great job for us installing a new furnace and a/c unit. Only a couple of minor complaints regarding the process. When I brought those to their attention, they remedied them immediately. Great follow up with us and they don't constantly overpromise/underdeliver. They did what they said they were going to do and a little extra. This is a good outfit.

They do not applying the estimate to the cost of repair. There are a lot of good companies that will apply the estimate cost to your repair cost. Saves you $85 (the cost of the estimate). In this tight economy, every little bit helps!

Reliable is not so reliaible if you live in a mobile home. I understand they made a mistake by not noting I lived in a mobile home ( they don't work on them) before they sent a guy out. What I don't get is that after being in temps over 100 inside, for two days, with the repair man almost at my front door they told him to turn around and leave !! They left a message saying sorry we don't work on mobile homes. I called them back begging that my outside unit was just like a ""Regular"" home air unit but just got a machine message and no return call explaining.
Another company came the following day put in freon and was done in 15 min !! My question is why couldn't Reliable at least have looked at and run a simple test for a freon leak in Emergency conditions, 2 days in the heat, with the repair man at my door?
Even if you don't/can't repair mobile home Ac, couldn't they have at least been caring and sympathetic to ""their own"" mistake and at least looked at my ""regular"" house size Trane unit ?
Reliable is Not reliable or even in touch with the needs of their fellow man ! Shame on you Reliable and you didn't even return my call back after begging you for help !!
Trailer Trash ?

I've dealt with Reliable a few times now and my conclusion is that they are probably as good as it gets for the Atlanta area. Here's why: First, their prices for new equipment is the lowest you'll find because they can get volume discounts for being so big. I shopped around and nobody else came close. Second, they will absolutely do whatever it takes to make you happy. The owner of the company gives out his personal phone number in case there's an issue. These guys aren't perfect, but they try their best. For example, when they installed a new heat pump for me, it was noisy at first. But they came by and fixed it within a day of me calling. (They replaced the three blade fan with a four blade fan.)

if u want someone to come out and install a unit these are the people to call if u want someone who will stand behind their work U DEFINITLY DO NOT WANT THESE PEOPLE we had a new outside unit installed 3/22/2012 it quit cooling 5/7/2012 we was told at the time it had a 1 yr labor warr and a 10 yr parts warr we called don joyner on 5/8 /2012 and left a message don called back promptly i told him what happened he said he would make some calls and call us back he never did i called him twice daily with no responce i called him on thurs eve and left him a mess that i was going to the courthouse mon to see what could be done AMAZING he called me right back saying he moved to texas and i had no warr why would anyone buy a new unit with no warr when they could buy a used one with no warr cheaper i wrote this hoping no one else gets lied to and ripped off like we did DON JOYNER u know who this is why not make it right but in case it has slipped your mind this jerry in chatsworth ga

I called this company and did not receive a response. I had to call back. When the owner Dan, finally came out, he had suggestions, but never submitted a proposal after his two hour visit. He would not inspect our building...with multiple units....as he said one of his employees would do that.
He never called back or responded to call or my letter...
Boy their business must be good to be so non responsive. I would categorize them as UNRELIABLE..........
I have found another company which is Responsive, prompt and Reliable.
Don't judge this company by its name, as you will be disappointed.
They are Totally UNRELIABLE

Positives:
This company correctly diagnosed the problem with my HVAC system, and were the first to arrive on the coldest day of the year when my heat went out. Their people were friendly, and seemed to be knowledgeable.
Negative:
They spec'd an underpowered Trane unit for my home, 25% less heating capacity than my old unit. When I told them I wasn't considering them because of this, the salesman told me he'd find another unit, then called me back suggesting the same unit/same power as the first time, just with slightly different features. I can only guess that because Trane doesn't make a unit that matches the specs I need, they were still going to push the underpowered unit because that's all that's available from their preferred brand.

Nice friendly on time and honest. Again I say dont go with the cheapest quotes you get, they helped me decide what size furnace would better my efficiency. Cleanliness, honesty and efficiency are not your lowest quoted people, but you get what you pay for, I will use these guys again and again they've treated us right from the day I met them.
