Company Overview
PowerDown emphasizes residential energy audits to help residents determine the factors contributing to elevated energy costs and explore methods to cut those costs. Each audit includes a thorough analysis of circuits and major appliances employing energy consumption monitors, concluded with a comprehensive written report providing recommendations.
PowerDown originated to meet the requirements of property owners wanting to cut their energy bills and minimize their carbon footprint. By assessing the current marketplace, it was evident that numerous services existed for commercial entities to evaluate and lower electricity bills, yet there was a lack of solutions for residential clients. Even in 2010, homeowners had limited resources to analyze how electricity was consumed in the household.
PowerDown was launched to fill this gap and has realized that it can often cut the monthly electricity bill by between 10 and 20 percent. We collaborate with performance auditors, service providers, renewable energy installers, to create a network to provide homeowners a comprehensive strategy to real energy efficiency.
PowerDown is overseen by Chris Hunt, a long-time proponent of sustainable energy and energy efficiency. Prior to establishing PowerDown, Chris spent a successful 25 years in the tech sector, occupying several management roles at Silicon Valley Bank, Adobe, along with Oracle as well as several startups.

John C.I called PowerDown after my electric bill had gone through the roof and we couldn't determine what was wrong. This was particularly annoying since I had both solar generation and solar hot water production. After Chris from PowerDown came out he discovered that my electric hot water heater was running constantly (bad solar water heating temperature sensor) and my hot water recirculation pump needed a timer. It's only been a week but my net daily kilowatt usage has dropped from over 40 kWh/day to under 10. The next bill will show a dramatic difference. Chris is well informed on power issues. He has stayed involved in the entire process of analysis and problem solution. I am very pleased.

Eric M.Chris from Power Down was great. I originally got his name from another home energy auditing company. They did not do the type of electrical auditing that Chris does. Chris came out to my house twice due to a rather unusual set up of my electrical panels. I initially thought I might be able to set up the TED 5000 to monitor my electrical consumption, but good thing I got him to do it, cause it turned out to be more complicated than I could have figured out. I am looking forward to my full audit report and using the TED 5000 to get a handle on why my bills have been so high. I had looked around quite a bit before callling Power Down, and I would recommend Chris to anyone in the same situation.
