Company Overview
PowerDown is dedicated to home electricity assessments to assist homeowners determine what is causing increased electricity expenses and find ways to lower their bills. Each audit includes a detailed review of circuits and key appliances using energy consumption monitors, followed by a detailed report providing recommendations.
PowerDown was founded to address the demands of residents looking to lower utility expenses and minimize energy consumption. By assessing the current marketplace, it was evident that many options were available for corporate clients to evaluate and reduce energy expenses, yet few options were available for homeowners. Back in 2010, homeowners had few tools to determine their electricity usage in their homes.
PowerDown was initiated to fill this gap and has realized that it can typically lower the monthly electricity bill by up to 20%. We partner with energy efficiency auditors, builders, renewable energy installers, and others to deliver clients a comprehensive strategy to true energy savings.
PowerDown is managed by our founder Chris Hunt, a passionate advocate of alternative energy and energy efficiency. Prior to establishing PowerDown, Chris dedicated 25 successful years in the high-tech industry, holding various management roles at Silicon Valley Bank, Adobe, as well as Oracle as well as various startups.

John C.I called PowerDown after my electric bill had gone through the roof and we couldn't determine what was wrong. This was particularly annoying since I had both solar generation and solar hot water production. After Chris from PowerDown came out he discovered that my electric hot water heater was running constantly (bad solar water heating temperature sensor) and my hot water recirculation pump needed a timer. It's only been a week but my net daily kilowatt usage has dropped from over 40 kWh/day to under 10. The next bill will show a dramatic difference. Chris is well informed on power issues. He has stayed involved in the entire process of analysis and problem solution. I am very pleased.

Eric M.Chris from Power Down was great. I originally got his name from another home energy auditing company. They did not do the type of electrical auditing that Chris does. Chris came out to my house twice due to a rather unusual set up of my electrical panels. I initially thought I might be able to set up the TED 5000 to monitor my electrical consumption, but good thing I got him to do it, cause it turned out to be more complicated than I could have figured out. I am looking forward to my full audit report and using the TED 5000 to get a handle on why my bills have been so high. I had looked around quite a bit before callling Power Down, and I would recommend Chris to anyone in the same situation.
