Rip off artists! They charge $99 just to show up. Rest of the time is spent writing up an overinflated estimate for everything you don't need. These guys work on commission. Don't trust them. Paid $99 for nothing. No work done. So you pay them to make their sales pitch. No way.

Not knowing any electrician to use for some work that needed to be taken care of I just went on to Yelp and saw that Powell Electric was at the top of their list for electricians in the immediate area. So I checked out the reviews from other customers and found their rating to be very acceptable. So I contacted them and spoke to Sam, explained what needed to be done and he was very kind & understanding and treated me like a human being which I truly appreciated. We set the appointment and the electrician they sent over was Douglas and needless to say he was very up front with an explanation of all work that was going to be done and was very pleasant but a true professional. I definitely will be calling Powell Electric again and asking for Douglas.

Don't fall for this scam. Their commercial says $77 service call. All I needed was to install 1 GFI outlet that I felt had been done incorrectly. The guy was supper nice and polite but he checked it and that was what it was. No big deal for him, but he has to call his office for a price. I thought maybe a $100 but he calls the office and they quote me $299!!! To just install the outlet, I was in SHOCK!!! That is a real RIP OFF! So I paid the $77 and said good bye! If I could give zero stars I would. DON'T FALL FOR THIS SCAM!!!!!

Incompetent. Called early Monday morning. Had surgery and needed to ground an outlet so I could use an ice machine. Explained the situation. They said they couldn't come Monday - they already had 60 appointments. Fair enough. They said they would be there Tuesday between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. I said fine because I mistakenly assumed they were professionals and that I could suffer for one day without my ice machine.
Tuesday 4:50 p.m., no sign of electrician. Call them. They are very sorry, they have no record in computer of appointment.
Do yourself a favor and find a professional who can do something as simple as book an appointment.

Powell electric charged me $77 just to quote a very small job then provided an outrageous quote. $1040 to fix two can lights and $395 to hang a fan that has the electrical box all ready. Crazy. Don't waste money on a quote.

Pricing is horrendously high!! I had to change a few wires and add a few outlets....their quote was $1460.00. Had three other bids: $425.00, $620.00 and $738.00, none of which charged for an estimate. Powell charged $99.00 for a ridiculous quote...outrageous! If they don't want to do the job, they just quote a stupidly high amount and get their $99.00. Do not even give them a try...dishonest and grossly overpriced.

this company is a scam, they charge you $99 just to come out, then they quote you a outragous price to do the work $500 to change 3 light switches one way or another you'll pay them somthing

Seriously??? I am selling my home, and thought I would spruce up the bathroom lighting...40.00 a fixture...3 of them...3x40=120.00 But...it would cost me 850.00 to replace them...Ha!! Not a chance...beware folks!! The wolf comes with a smile! They may fix it in a flash...but they will take all your cash!! Great slogan!! P.S. the only reason for TWO stars...they did call to say when they would be here...and they were on time.

We called Powell Electric because we had a new ceiling lamp that we wanted to have wired to where there was already a light fixture. Our handyman was busy and not getting back to us( turned out to be a big mistake) Right away we already knew that the minimum charge would be $100 and we were fine with that. I understand that they need to make money no matter how small the job. After he looked at the current fixture and checked out the breaker box he told us that it would cost $350. Again I know they need to charge for their time just to come to me(WHICH IS WHY I 'M PAYING $100 ALREADY) But $250 extra to hang and wire a ceiling lamp....? NO WAY. We politely told him that we had to think about it. Afterwards we finally got ahold of our handyman who had been m.i.a. for some time and he hung it for us for $60. Did I expect Powell to charge $60 for the job? Of coarse not but I thought that $350 was absurdly high. WILL NEVER CALL POWELL ELECTRIC AGAIN.

What a rip off! Cost me $100. For them to come out and give me a price that was astronomical!
