Only had Norman troubleshoot an outage in some of my rooms but he did it very quickly. It was a loose wire on the roof and he did a temporary fix by replacing the wire which was a bit burned out since I plan on re-hauling the electrical in a future renovation. He was in and out in 45 minutes and charged $80. That first hour cost is much lower than other electricians I have used in the past that can charge $120+. I'll definitely call Norman again for future electrical work.

Home improvement is one of those things that take years of practice to become good at. Building one's own furniture, installing new bathroom fixtures, changing doorknobs, caulking the bathroom, painting walls, installing slab doors, etc..

...all of those things are easy if you have a bit of common sense and you're generally good with your hands.

So, when I went to change out some 10-15-year-old electrical outlets for some newer, prettier ones, as I have done a few times, I figured I had the task down to a science.

WRONG. SO WRONG.

I encountered more than your typical dipole receptacle. I found some with blue wires connected to a wall switch. I found one receptacle with SIX WIRES!

So... I put them together the best I could. When I went to turn on the circuit breaker, the power for the entire house went out. I went recheck my work, and when I went to turn on the circuit breaker, the power went out again.

At this point, my anxiety was at an 8. The clock was also at 8 p.m.. My life flashed before my eyes. I immediately had an epiphany that while I may have a master's degree, and I may be an excellent therapist, an excellent cook, and an overall great homemaker... I am not an electrician. Isn't it remarkable how when you think you got it like that, life has this special way of humbling a bitch? Yup. That happened.

So, it's Wednesday night, and I don't know what to do. I call one electrician and he's not in the mood to go out, and he doesn't know anyone in the area who does emergency service. So I call Norman at My Electrician Logics. Not only does he say he'll be here in an hour, but he comes in about 45 minutes and quotes me at only $65 to fix my mistakes.

Norman was polite, prompt, helpful, and friendly. He didn't shame me. He fixed it up quick and was on his way. He was extremely skillful, and he didn't hesitate to ask if I wanted certain receptacles wired any special way. He didn't tack on prices, and he didn't try to game me in any way.

As a clinician, it is generally easy to spot when something is amiss and when someone is not honest. Norman was honest, kind, and I have no qualms in hiring him again. I highly recommend his services to anyone who needs a reliable, licensed electrician. THANKS, NORMAN!

September ""Summer"" heat...there's nothing like it. It's simply incredible...

...until your power goes out. Death.

Last Friday, we had a group of friends over and the main power switch kept tripping. We thought it was maybe just a fluke, until it happened again and then went out around 4am Saturday morning. With all the lights off and no power, there's nothing to do but search yelp for some help.

At 5:00am, I took a chance and text Norman. By 9:00am, Norman called (I missed it) by 10:30am, he'd come to my house and by 11:00 am on a SATURDAY, he'd replaced the circuit breaker, checked the system and was gone. His rate was incredibly fair for an almost emergency service. Finding honest, helpful people in this town is RARE.
