I would NEVER use Mr. Electric of Naperville again. Technicians arrived 3 hours late after appointment. Salesperson only interested if there was an Insurance claim and the claim #. No estimate, waited a month after work to receive the bill.
$9,139 to test, replace breaker panel, feeder cables & affected circuits in residence. Actual workers on job did do a great job. Insist on a written estimate and check your contractors before hiring them
Let me preface with how I don't usually review companies online at all. This is my first and I felt it was important to share as I was dumbfounded and shocked by the lack of professionalism with this company. Our first experience was a technician not showing to give us an estimate on a date we had scheduled. After calling and complaining, I was called back by the owner, I assume. He was very apologetic and promised to ""make it right and give me a deal."" I figured I would give them a second chance but I made frustration known. That same man I spoke to showed up for our rescheduled estimate date and I chose to hire the company to do some work, even though my first impression was not a good one. We scheduled the work day, he put it into his computer, gave me the names of who he thought would be coming out, shook hands and left. The day of our scheduled appointment, no one showed up, AGAIN. I called again, spoke to a technician and told him someone was supposed to be at my house between 9-11 to fix our electrical issues and no one showed. He indicated he would call his boss and find out what happened. He assured me he would ""call me right back."" He never did. I'm appalled that this company is still in business after my experience. This is the most shoddily run business I have ever encountered.
Mr. Electric charged $225 to move a wire from one terminal of the switch to the other.
Comes back regarding grounding my water meter. to run a single wire 10 feet and clamp it in two places, $1,000.
I told them they were nuts. I would pay any more than $500 for that jobs and that price is insane.
The manager says let me call the store, calls me back and says they'll do the jobs for $500. So they could have done the jobs for $500, but come in and ask me for 1,000.
The best part is, Mr. Electric installed the panel a few years back and it should have been grounded then.
It's clear just another company trying to get as much as they think you'll pay.
Yes, also electricians showing up in Lexus's and BMW's.
What happened to having a work vehicle?

Came to house and said they could not do job as they had an emergency call. Re-scheduled and they installed our kitchen ceiling light. Took about 20-25 minutes and charged $250!
Do not call Mr. Electric. I wish I could give 0 stars. We basically paid $200 for an estimate. After being assured multiple times that the $200 ""diagnostic"" fee would include a detailed report that we could show to other electricians if we wanted other estimates. The tech ended up being here for two hours, with about half that time with the tech on the phone with his boss or my husband on the phone with his boss, who acted baffled by the whole idea of a report that wasn't the vague scribbled estimate sheet. The $200 ""diagnostic"" fee is basically just a scam to have them do whatever work they say you need for whatever price they say, since otherwise you've thrown the money down the drain. Which we did, since no way would we have this shady company do work for us.
I've never been more frustrated at a company in my life. I called Sunday morning to just replace a couple of 4way and 3way switches i couldn't figure out the wiring on. They said no problem he'll be out shortly and he'll call before he comes over. This is at 8am. At 1pm i called again to make sure he was coming, they said yes he's just running late. Then at 5pm i called again, no one yet. They said he's just finishing up. Long story short, nobody ever showed up. I called again Monday morning, they didn't apologize or anything, and said he'll call and be there shortly. 3 hours later he shows up and says it is ""wired weirdly and he can't help"" and just left. What a joke, stay away from Mr. Electric big time.
Was made to feel the services were so important, that the house could've burned down. $2800 later, the problem was not fixed. It turned out to be a ComEd issue that for $100 was found by an actual reliable electrician. Absolutely horrible ethics, and by the looks of the previous reviews, standard practice. Shame on Mr. Electric.
Do not bother calling Mr. Electric. They were supposedly heading to my commercial rental property when I called last week, and then never bothered to get back to me. So, I called yesterday to see what the status was. Someone left a message today. When I called back, he said he thinks a technician had gone out last week, but he had no idea what the technician had found and would have to check with him and get back to me. Maybe he would have to send him out again tomorrow. I told him to forget it.
I couldn't choose zero stars so I guess 1 has to do. Called mr electric 1 yr ago in a pinch because my 90 yr old dad had no air conditioning. Mr electric salesman promised the moon. Electrician came out and got the air going (used my husbands wire even). One yr later the electrical started sparking, could have burned the house down. Another electrician looked at it and looked at the invoice from mr electric. Turns out the guy only rewired a portion of what he was supposed to and did not install the rigid conduit that he charged us for. Have been calling for 6 days now. The owner Jim was supposed to be here at 10AM today. It's now 7:30PM. No show, no call. Called customer service twice already. They keep promising a call back. These people are absolute swindlers. $1794.00 for nothing.
I am not very happy with Mr.Electric. I hired them because part of my basement was loosing power. The technician said it will be $450 and it will be few hours for him to figure it out whats going on. I agreed to pay $450. He started troubleshooting and the problem was found under 5 mins. It was a simple black wire coming out to the wall outlet which was loose causing the issue. I asked him right away if I still be charged $450 for something simple and it was found very quick. He said yes, I will be charged $450. The technician felt so bad that the company is charging me so much, he redid the wiring that coming into the wall outlets for 4 wall outlets. This wasn't necessary to fix the problem. He just did it so I feel I am getting something for the $450 I am paying. I paid the full amount just because I agreed to pay. The technician was out the door in less than 40 (20 mins of actual work) minutes. I don't think I ever paid this much for any job. We all work hard for our money but $450 is way too much. I would never hire or recommend Mr. Electric again.
