I would give Joe negative 5 stars, if available. He started buying many parts for the small wiring job in my garage, which he finally did not use, but said that ""you paid for all this"" just after arriving. After checking the receipt that he left with me to return some of these items, ""because you paid for all this"", I figured out that he does this to get reward points on his Home Depot contractor account. This guy was supposed to check with me what was needed for the job before buying anything without my approval.

After working for a couple hours he made a second trip to Home Depot to buy additional material, time for which he charged me at his regular rate. And believe it or not, he forgot to buy everything needed for the installation. After more than 4 hours, he did not finish the job and the quality of the installation is very poor, with conduit and an ugly box not sitting properly on the wall. He also showed lack of expertise mounting hardware on finished walls, when he tried to use undersized fasteners for a heavy duty application.

I am hiring another contractor in the Napa area to redo the installation, which looks like part of a factory or an industrial lab. If you do not want to end up with parts to return on your own after this guy leaves your home and paying a professional contractor to do the job again, find someone else to work on your project.

Joe and his staff were extremely responsive to my inquiry. He immediately got me on his schedule to come by my house and provide a bid for the various electrical jobs I needed executed. Joe was very personable, knowledgeable and honest. He had some great ideas that I didn't think about to save me time and money. He finished all the work in on afternoon and did an incredible job. I develop real estate professionally and deal with commercial subs all the time...my experience with Joe was great. Highly recommended

Joe really is a top notch guy. Easy going, honest and hard working. I had him do some work for me in Napa and felt he was thorough and did quality work. I then had him come to my main home in Dixon to do an entire change out of old fried switches. He was fast, efficient and fair on price. Joe is my go-to guy for all my electric needs. When I called to try to set up an appointment, Joe (I think that was his name) came right over rather than make me wait until the next day. He fixed the problem another electrician was unable to in half the time and for a very reasonable price. He was friendly and explained exactly what was going on. I would certainly recommend Monticello Electric and intend on using him again if I have any problem.

I give him four stars for pickikng up the phone and helping me. The others I called all could not pick up the phone or in one case their voice mail was full so I couldn't even leave a message. Depending on his fix and the cost tomorrow, I will move this rating up or down...I forgot to say that he was incredibly helpful!
