Since its inception in 1968, Mid-Coast Electric Supply Inc. has become one of the largest and quickest-growing electrical distributors in South Texas, operating 6 locations that serve a broad swath of Texas and Northern Mexico. As a complete electrical distributor, we supply a broad range of electrical equipment to original equipment manufacturers, industrial MRO, factory automation, construction, utility, and government sectors.

Mid-Coast Electric Supply, Inc. (MCESI) was incorporated in Texas in 1968 by Louis Barker and William McKinney. By 1980, Louis Barker became the sole proprietor of MCESI. The corporate headquarters was established in Victoria, Texas, in the same year.

Back then, the company’s revenue was below $3 million. The 1980s saw the company expand its market share in Victoria and launch a satellite location in Bay City, Texas. At the close of 1989, MCESI reported total revenue of $5.8 million.

In the 1990s, the company further expanded by opening its Rio Grande Valley location in Harlingen, Texas. During this period, Steve and Tom Barker came on board as full-time employees and part owners of MCESI. MCESI launched its Corpus Christi location in 1999. By the close of 2000, total revenue for the company exceeded $18 million.
