Since its inception in 1968, Mid-Coast Electric Supply Inc. has become one of the largest and quickest-growing electrical distributors in South Texas, operating 6 locations that serve a broad swath of Texas and Northern Mexico. As a complete electrical distributor, we supply a broad range of electrical equipment to original equipment manufacturers, industrial MRO, factory automation, construction, utility, and government sectors.

In 1968, Louis Barker and William McKinney incorporated Mid-Coast Electric Supply, Inc. (MCESI) in the State of Texas. In 1980, Louis Barker took full ownership of MCESI. That same year, the corporate headquarters was constructed in Victoria, Texas.

At that point, the total revenue for the company was under $3 million. Throughout the 1980s, the company experienced growth and expansion by increasing its market share in Victoria and opening a satellite location in Bay City, Texas. At the close of 1989, MCESI reported total revenue of $5.8 million.

In the 1990s, the company further expanded by opening its Rio Grande Valley location in Harlingen, Texas. During this period, Steve and Tom Barker came on board as full-time employees and part owners of MCESI. In 1999, the company expanded by opening a location in Corpus Christi. By the end of 2000, the company’s total revenue had surpassed $18 million.

The period from 2000 to now has seen the company continue its steady growth. In 2003, we acquired the San Antonio location. In 2003, the distribution capabilities of MCESI...
