Since its inception in 1968, Mid-Coast Electric Supply Inc. has become one of the largest and quickest-growing electrical distributors in South Texas, operating 6 locations that serve a broad swath of Texas and Northern Mexico. As a comprehensive electrical distributor, we provide a diverse array of electrical equipment to original equipment manufacturers, industrial maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), factory automation, construction, utility, and government sectors.

Incorporated in Texas in 1968, Mid-Coast Electric Supply, Inc. (MCESI) was founded by Louis Barker and William McKinney. Louis Barker assumed sole ownership of MCESI in 1980. That same year, the corporate headquarters was constructed in Victoria, Texas.

At that time, the company’s total revenue was less than $3 million. During the 1980s, the company continued to grow by enhancing its market presence in Victoria and establishing a satellite office in Bay City, Texas. At the close of 1989, MCESI reported total revenue of $5.8 million.

In the 1990s, the company further expanded by opening its Rio Grande Valley location in Harlingen, Texas. During this period, Steve and Tom Barker came on board as full-time employees and part owners of MCESI. In 1999, MCESI opened its location in Corpus Christi. At the end of 2000, the company reported total revenue of over $18 million.
