Since its inception in 1968, Mid-Coast Electric Supply Inc. has become one of the largest and quickest-growing electrical distributors in South Texas, operating 6 locations that serve a broad swath of Texas and Northern Mexico. We are a full-line electrical distributor, offering a wide selection of electrical equipment to original equipment manufacturers, industrial MRO, factory automation, construction, utility, and government markets.

Mid-Coast Electric Supply, Inc. (MCESI) was incorporated in Texas in 1968 by Louis Barker and William McKinney. Louis Barker assumed sole ownership of MCESI in 1980. The corporate headquarters was established in Victoria, Texas, in the same year.

At that point, the total revenue for the company was under $3 million. Throughout the 1980s, the company experienced growth and expansion by increasing its market share in Victoria and opening a satellite location in Bay City, Texas. By 1989, MCESI had increased its total revenue to $5.8 million.

The 1990s brought further expansion as the company launched its Rio Grande Valley location in Harlingen, Texas. Steve and Tom Barker joined MCESI as full-time employees and part owners during this time. In 1999, MCESI opened its location in Corpus Christi. At the end of 2000, the company reported total revenue of over $18 million.
