I go by Manny, short for Manuel, and I love that nickname! I started my electrical career in Cuba at the age of 20; it quickly became clear that I had a passion for it, prompting me to attend school and obtain my license. After my education, I took a job with a big company in Cuba, earning only $10 a month—yes, that’s right, just $10! After five years of working for that amount, I decided to take a leap of faith and risk my life to cross the ocean on a makeshift boat that I built with 11 friends. After two weeks, we landed in Key Largo, and it felt like I was starting anew. I soon moved to Miami for a year, then to Orlando, where I launched my career with Terry’s Electric, an excellent company that covered my schooling for four years. After finishing my schooling, I sought my journeyman license, and two years later, I aimed for my state license. Ultimately, after six months of dedication and long nights of studying, I successfully passed my test to become a Certified Electrician.
