Mammoth Handyman
Company Overview
Once Mammoth Handyman, I focus on basic home repairs, replacements, and improvements. I have obtained my electrical contracting certification and will shift my focus more on commercial and residential electrical work.
In 2005, I joined WECA, an apprenticeship for electricians, having minimal experience about the construction industry. Over the course of the five-year apprenticeship in both commercial and residential settings, I acquired comprehensive skills in all aspects of electrical work. Alongside this, I watched other trades, inquired, and grew from my errors.
I completed the apprenticeship program as scheduled in 2010, despite I had nearly insufficient hours due to the economic downturn in 2009, which caused a two-year slowdown.
I felt weary of being the least experienced on the totem pole. Unwilling to travel for long periods, I encountered layoffs whenever business dipped. Thus, I decided to build my own totem pole. Whenever I faced a layoff, I started making moves to launch my own business and nurture it to grow. It was doing well, but I received too many offers for jobs over $500 (the maximum allowed for a handyman license), and insufficient jobs below that limit. Consequently, I limited the handyman business and focused on obtaining my license as an electrical contractor.
