Mammoth Handyman
Company Overview
Once Mammoth Handyman, I focus on basic home repairs, replacements, and improvements. Now, I hold my electrical contracting certification and plan to concentrate more on both residential and commercial electrical projects.
I became a member of WECA, an electrical apprenticeship program, knowing very little about construction. Over the course of the five-year commercial and residential apprenticeship, I learned a great deal in all aspects of electrical work. Simultaneously, I observed other trades, sought advice, and learned from my mistakes.
I graduated from the apprenticeship program on time in 2010, although I was short on hours due to the 2009 market downturn, which led to a two-year slowdown.
I felt weary of being the junior member on the team. Unwilling to travel for extended durations, I was laid off whenever business dipped. So, I made the decision to create my own path. Each time I was laid off, I took steps to start my own venture and develop it into a successful enterprise. It showed promise, but I encountered numerous opportunities for jobs above the $500 threshold (the limit for a handyman license), and too few jobs under that amount. Therefore, I scaled back the handyman business and focused on obtaining my license as an electrical contractor.
