Kenneth O. Long initiated his career in the power sector in the year 1951 partnering with a colleague. The company was initially named Plowman & Long Electric. By 1963, Ken purchased his partner's interest and changed the the company to Long Electric. Later, a corporation was formed with Kenneth as the sole stakeholder. Since that time, Long Electric Co. has completed electrical work on retail spaces, hospitals, educational institutions, places of worship, manufacturing plants, civic centers, stadiums, judicial centers, homes of all sizes, and numerous other assignments. Over this duration, Long Electric Co. has consistently not succeeded to complete a single job or overlook a invoice. Long Electric has been a family-run business for 67 six and a half decades. Founder Kenneth O. Long successfully led the business until his death. After 2009, Son-in-Law has continued the success. At present, Long Electric is the most established electrical contracting company lacking any debt or external financial dependency.

In 1976, Fred joined the firm after overseeing at Aileen's until it ceased operations. He started as a warehouse assistant and progressed in the business until partnering with Ken Long as the VP. He is now the President of the firm.
