Ann R.Josh Frost has helped me twice now with issues I've had with lights. He figures out problems very fast, and he always does a bit more than requested.
For example, the ballast needed to be changed in my kitchen overhead, and Josh selected one that can handle more watts. Since this is my main light source, it's an improvement, but something I didn't think to ask for.
I also met James Frost who came by once for a previous job as a second opinion. Together they have a lot of experience and take care of customers. Highest rating!
Sonny M.Josh and his dad did a lot of electrical work for the house we just bough. Did a safety check and fixed all the errors done by the previous electrician, found our circuits were overloaded and fixed that, and even added some much needed lights, plugs and safety measures. Overall I was very happy with their work. They were honest, efficient, up front, and even came in under budget! Highly recommend.
We've had a growing list of light switch problems in our old Noe Valley house, and decided it was time to do something about it. I found Jim and Josh Frost on Yelp and liked the reviews I saw - besides which they are in the neighborhood. Josh was prompt, talked through the problems and his suggested solutions, fixed the ones that needed to be fixed. His father Jim came by and gave a second opinion on one situation. I give them 5 stars for their all around professional service. Thanks guys!
Heather C.Josh helped us out a month or so ago. We had an exterior light that was inexplicably not working, needed a light fixture changed, and our doorbells just weren't working. Josh fixed everything in record time, including installing a new doorbell in one of the units. He was honest and friendly. I have already recommended him to several people!
Daniel T.Recently moved into a new condo and needed some electrical work done regarding a load issue we had with our circuit box. James Frost came highly recommended by the home inspector we used and after doing some research on my own for good electricians in the area felt that this was the right man for the job.
Great father and son team that was very professional and knowledgeable about the issues we had and what needed to be done. Took care of our main issue as well as fixed our doorbell that was not working since we moved in. Worked efficiently and in a timely manner and very happy with their pricing.
Would recommend to anyone who needs a general electrician.
I had ordered a new range from Lowe's to replace an older one. Usually installation is straightforward. Unfortunately the wiring on the range was complicated, and the installation crew didn't want to touch it until it was rewired.
After calling around to a few electricians and getting no response, I got in touch with Jim. Despite being booked solid and with his partner unavailable, he managed to fit me in. He even identified a problem with a mismatch between the old, lower amperage and the new required amperage and made sure that the new range got the current it needed.
Work was straightforward and very clean and pricing was fair. He was a great help.
Peter S.Was about to pay for Angie's List and remembered to check out Yelp first. Glad I did. Found Jim & Josh Frost (son's a 4 year apprentice to Dad) wonderful. They get a 5 star for integrity, 5 for stick-to-it-ness in problem solving, and 5 for professionalism. We have a 100 year old flat in the Mission that after 6 years the electric circuits decided to turn each other on and off when turning a light on or off in half the unit and then went out altogether. Had one electrician who earlier left after 2 hours muttering to himself on what the heck was going on.
Josh and Jim spent over 5 hours the 1st day and were no closer to the problem. Jim said in 40 years of doing this, this was the 1st time he was this stumped. Charged me only half rate for the effort. They wanted a day to think about it, but suggested that I might need to consider rewiring. Cost? About $5K. Gulp. Am I being setup, me thinks.
They cam back after a day to try again, and lo and behold, found a light fixture in the ceiling of a closet that looked suspicious. Not to make this story any longer, problem solved. Everything is back to normal. Hence the 5 stars for integrity. They could have hit me with rewiring for $5K but this cost about a 1/10th of that in less then 1/10th the time. Bravo Josh & Jim! You got a fan-customer for life.
Those of you who might view this story pessimistically, I've been buying and selling homes and apartment buildings for maybe about 40 years. I'm not easily taken advantage of.
Wally N.My apologies to Jim and Josh Frost for not writing this review earlier and also for its brevity. If I had the time, I'd be much more effusive in my praise, but this short appraisal will have to do.
Several months back, I roughed out a brief scope of work for an electrical project to light the exterior common areas (front entry ways and back stairs) in my mom's 6-unit Edwardian in Noe Valley. I interviewed and solicited bids from 4 licensed electricians identified from this site as well as Angie's List. To make a long story short, one of the electricians flaked completely and never delivered his quote. Another asked for 3 extensions and finally produced something that misinterpreted my SOW entirely. The third guy's bid was so high I had to wonder if he had a completely different job in mind (it was late, too). In sharp contrast, Jim Frost's estimate was: (1) well-written, (2) timely and (perhaps most importantly) (3) sensibly priced. In fact, his bid was so reasonable that I had concerns he was some fly-by-night guy looking to undercut all his competitors just to get a job - any job.
Baseless concerns aside, I hired Jim and Josh and have had no regrets. They expertly installed several mid-priced exterior fixtures with photo cell activation, changed a previously-installed fixture that didn't meet our needs and completed a number of long and complicated conduit runs, some of which required drilling and creative routing. Mind you, this wasn't just some ham-handed job done to give me a functional product. Jim and Josh took the time to follow the contours on our Edwardian façade to create the lowest profile for the lighting system and located the fixtures in a way to unobtrusively give us the most light. The installation looks great, and the residents are very happy with the added safety and security of a well-lighted property.
For you cynics out there, I'm sure the Frosts are as interested in making a buck as anyone else. The difference is they seem unwilling to sacrifice workmanship, fairness and integrity to do it. And as a further sop to all of you wanting to see the bad in everyone, that's a VERY, VERY rare quality these days.
I'm out of time and am starting to deviate from the script. Listen. If you live or own income or commercial property in the City and need expert electrical service, from the simple to the complex, call Jim and Josh. You'll save plenty and will get a quality product for your money. Message me if you want an expansive and personal testimonial. It would be my pleasure to tell you more.
Absolutely fantastic team! Always on time, very accurate with work, ""no second calls"" to fix ""leftovers"". I deal with them for the last 5 years and can say only good about them.
Highly, highly recommended.
Star S.James Frost and his son did a great job changing fixtures and adding outlets in my flat. They were prompt and they returned my calls right away for scheduling. Nice guys, an established San Francisco family.
