Tom Kretzschmar, the President, holds a degree from Southwest Texas State University, is affiliated with the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, and is an Industry Partner with the American Society of Interior Designers. Kretzschmar's background traces back to one of Texas' oldest and most esteemed electrical contracting firms, Rulon Electric, founded by his grandfather over 65 years ago. Upon graduating from Southwest Texas State University, Kretzschmar polished his abilities at Rulon and launched Illuminations Lighting Design in 1980. Illuminations began by specializing in fine art illumination and cabinetry, but quickly expanded to cover all forms of aesthetic lighting design, such as landscape lighting and residential electrical contracting. Tom holds three US Patents for unique lighting fixtures, marketed worldwide under the Phantom Lighting Systems brand.
