Recently our 6-year-old Thermador refrigerator started leaking water in the main compartment. At first, I was dreading that our $5K fridge was about to go kaput. But due to the modern marvel of internet blogs, I soon found out that the leaking was due mose likely to a clogged drain line. Other than people online saying that I needed to unclog it, there was no real good tutorial on exactly how to do this on your own. After downloading the schematics for our particular Thermador, I decided declogging the drain line on my own was probably not worth the headache. Given this, we called up Hertzfield. Amazingly, they said they could come out that same day to give a repair estimate & complete the repair if no special parts were needed. Given the amount of leaking, we immediately jumped on this offer.

The Hertzfield technician Russell showed up as promised right on time. He was friendly, courteous and super efficient. After assessing the issue, he agreed that it was a clogged drain line and he gave us an estimate of $385. Since I had researched typical drain line declogging costs through local Thermador-certified technicians, this estimate was comparatively quite reasonable. We therefore went ahead with Russell. He immediately started taking apart panels from the fridge's interior and base of it. He then worked on declogging the drain line. Our drain was stubbornly clogged and Russell had to perform multiple sessions of steaming the line and flushing it. After the drain finally unclogged, he then carefully reinstalled all the panels. The leak stopped and our fridge has been working flawlessly since.

Russell told us that due to dirt and deposits, all refrigerators typically need a drain line flush within 10 years or often sooner as in our case. Whenever this happens again, we will definitely be calling Russell of Hertzfield!

He was very polite and very professional and he could've charged me for something that I didn't need to be done, but he pointed out what the problem was, and all I had to pay was the service charge I would definitely recommend them. Russell made an appointment, was at our Apartment Bld on time & with the diagnostic equipment & knowledge to trouble shoot the stove/oven issue in 10 min. We had a Dawn-in-the-dishwasher incident that fried our dishwasher. Russell was super prompt and professional, diagnosed the problem, and didn't pressure us into deciding immediately whether to repair or not. After a day, we did decide the repair was better than replacing altogether, and he applied the cost of the diagnosis to the overall repair cost. On the day of repair, he asked that I hold off paying until the dishwasher cycle completed to ensure that it was fixed. It was! Hertzfield is definitely being added to our household list of go-to repair places!

Russell did a great job repairing our outdoor refrigerator, which I had assumed would have to be replaced by a new one. this saved us more than $2000! the repaired unit is running great even with n the hot weather we have been having. other positives are that Russell explained exactly what he was doing and what needed to be replaced to get the unit back into operation. He was prompt, pleasant, efficient and competent. we couldn't be more pleased!
