I would not use this company ever again. The tech was told to tell me from his boss that we needed to replace TXV valve in our pool heater. That part is a $150 part then he proceeded to tell me it was a $3,000 fix to replace it. The pool heater is only 6 years old and I paid $3500 for it. I told the tech to forget it. After he left I turned it on and in 2 hrs my spa temp went from 62 degrees to 102 degrees. There is nothing wrong with the TXV valve. What is wrong is a repair company trying to rip off a senior citizen. I won't mention the techs name because I think he was only doing what he was instructed to do by his superior. Do not use this company!

My pool contractor subcontracted work to Hawkins so I never had a choice of who to hire, but if you do have a choice, I recommend you find someone else.

Hawkins came to my house on July 8th to install the electrical equipment for my pool, and they still have not been able to get things working right.

The first thing they did was cut through my fiber-optic internet line, about 6 inches from where the line goes into the ground. It is really obvious that there is a wire there for anyone with experience running wires underground, which is exactly what this guy was doing. And no, they didn't tell me in advance that they were coming so I couldn't get the lines marked for them ahead of time. It took a week to get that fixed by my internet provider which was a huge pain since my wife and I both work from home.

Ok, fine, mistakes happen. They started wiring up the equipment and when they were done, neither my heat pump nor salt cell power unit would turn on. They wouldn't address either until the pool was further along in the build process, since at the time it was just a concrete shell.

Fast forward 4 months to November 11th when the pool's plaster was completed and the pool company's tech came for startup. He determines Hawkins made 3 mistakes (the first we had just found, the last 2 we have known about since July).

First, they installed the wrong control board (it was for a pool OR spa, not the pool AND spa board that was ordered).
Second, they installed a faulty circuit breaker, which looked like it was old/used compared to all the others (all scuffed up, writing scratched off it in places - the others looked brand new).
Finally, the salt cell power unit would not power on. The pool tech said Hawkins has messed up the salt cell power unit wiring on a number of pools he has been to recently, frequently forgetting to wire the pool pump to the unit. There is no guarantee that's my issue, but we know its either a faulty power unit or the wiring to the power unit is wrong.

My pool company was able to work around Hawkins to get the control board sorted out via a software update and then opened a ticket for the other two items with Hawkins. After waiting a few weeks for the first available appointment, a Hawkins rep comes out and diagnoses the issue as a bad circuit breaker - which we already knew. He says he can't fix that, that's the ""electrical"" department's job. I asked about the salt cell power unit and he said its all related to the breaker and he leaves. That afternoon the ""electrical"" department comes out to replace the breaker. Now the heat pump works but the salt water power unit still doesn't. They claim the salt power unit is the first guy's job, not theirs, and they leave.

Two more weeks go by without any activity, so I call the office to find out when they are coming back to finish the job and find out they had closed the work order as complete and thought everything was working. So they decide to open a new ticket for this on December 29th. I ask when they can come back out and they tell me to call back after the New Year's holidays. So I do and they tell me they won't come back out until they have a full replacement salt cell and power unit on the truck (I assume so they can be sure its fixed on the next trip). They said they have to replace equipment in order to get paid for warranty work by the manufacturer, implying that they aren't willing to warranty their own shoddy work otherwise. Then they tell me that the salt cell is on back-order. The salt cell and power unit are two separate pieces of equipment. I have no reason to think the salt cell is bad, it has always been the power unit that won't turn on. But now I have to wait some unknown amount of time for a part that I don't need to be back in stock so they can come fix the power unit, which they do have. All for an issue they have known about since July and have refused to even attempt to diagnose in the 6 months since.

Cliff's notes:
- Poor initial install - broke internet line, installed cheaper equipment than what was ordered, didn't make sure things worked before leaving.
- Came back out to fix two issues and was only willing to look at one and closed the ticket.
- Will not come back out for the other issue until they can have backordered parts that aren't needed on hand so they can bill the manufacturer for warranty work since they can't bill me.

So this is a bit of a mixed review. The technician who came to repair/replace the pool water heat sensor did a great job. He was on time, got right to work and completed the job quickly. He was clear and communicative. All great. The reason for the two stars is the outrageous prices. I've used Hawkins for pool and electrical for over 5 years. They have always been on the pricier side but I never made an issue of it because the work was always well done. Today it just went too far. The sensor that needed replaced was available online from authorized dealers for approximately $57. Hawkins charged me $300 for the sensor (including the 10 minutes labor to install)!! PLUS their service fee of $135 for just coming out to the house which doesn't go towards the ultimate repair charges but stands alone. So I paid $435 for a technician to change a $57 sensor in 10 minutes!! WTF?!? That's outrageous by any stretch of the imagination. I called to state my complaint and the representative had the nerve to try to lecture about overhead expenses, training technicians, maintaining the trucks, etc. If your business has to rely on a 6x up charge of otherwise low cost parts, then you need to rethink your business model. I know businesses need to make profits and obviously that's ok with me within reason. But $300 for a $57 device is beyond reasonable and $435 for a 10 minute simple repair is outrageous. Despite the good work, I'm not sticking around to be grossly overcharged again.

I had a damaged outlet on my dock and wanted it replaced with a new one and a shore power outlet added. The expected technician did not show up at first, but his helper did a little late. He took photos and sent them to the tech. The technician showed up much later with the parts. They did a good job and the installation looks very nice; however, the bill was more than I expected. All they gave me was a total figure with no breakdown of parts and labor.

I have used this company in the past. They came out, gave you an estimate and if I approved they did the work for the price of the estimate. Now they charge a $150 service call fee that is on top of the estimate of work charges. That crazy in my view.
I called Small Jobs Electric and they charge a $29 estimate fee that they waive if you do the work.

BEWARE. THEY STEAL MONEY! (See comments for proof)

In November 2021, I had Hawkins come out to give me a full house rewiring estimate. I was charged $520. It's now January 2022 and they are saying they have no records of needing to provide an estimate. Apparently, the electrician that came out doesn't work for them and with some sly wording of the contract, they are trying to say they provided services (which they did not).

I'll be taking them to small claims court because it's unacceptable to steal from hard-working individuals. They've made no effort to rectify the situation. The customer service is extremely rude and combative. And of course, they stole money and now deny any wrongdoing.
Fortunately, I do have phone records explicitly stating that the service I needed was for a full rewire estimate.

One major downside to all of this was (as I suspected), a fire did start because of an electrical issue. Of course, this adds to damages that I'll be able to add to the lawsuit.

It's rare to find decent and honest individuals that have integrity. Unfortunately, Hawkins is not honest, not decent, and they have no integrity.
Is the money all that important? It is but more importantly, I'm suing because this behavior is completely unacceptable. I have a great job. But many do not. Many people cannot afford to throw away $520. It's awful to treat someone this way and should rightfully be punished to prevent this behavior in the future.

This is the first review I posted on FB & Google. Checkout their Facebook page (reviews section) to see a screenshot of the email I received from my bank, affirming this (and rightfully crediting me the money back). I am a real person that this unfortunate situation really happened to. A real fire (small, but any size fire still does damage) really did occur. I implore anyone reading this, do not take the chance, especially with electrical. I'm thankful I was awake when this fire occurred. Had I been asleep, from what I know, the smoke could have kept me unconscious and ultimately, could have killed me.

I have a 3 month old pool. The pump went out. I have waited 3 weeks for my pool to get fixed. If it was the middle of the summer. I would have had a swamp in my brand new pool. The service manager did not care at all about my property. Run from this company

Do not recommend at all. We had a pool and hot tub installed by Sekas Custom Pools. Two months later the hot tub stopped worked, the day we had people over ! Frustrating as this time of the year in Florida when its a bit chilly is when we would like to get most use of the hot tub. So we called Sekas Pool who opened a work order with Hawkins (on 21 Nov) and gave us a phone number to follow up. We called Hawkins the next day and were told they have a backlog and it wont be until 1-3 Dec when someone can come out to repair. So, we arranged for people to come over on 4th Dec. I then call Hawins on 1st Dec to check when someone would be coming out, i was advised that now it was likely to be the week after. I explained the situation that i had been advised previously 1-3 Dec and had arranged a party on the 4th Dec. I was told that they would check with scheduling and call me right back. I never got a call back so i called Friday morning (today 3 dec), and spoke to Janette, she looked up my details and told me that a work order had not even been created!! Apparently they entered my home address in wrong ! I don't understand why that was not picked up the previous two times i called, anyway she advised me there was no way they were going to send someone out today. So, another week without the hot tub and having to cancel the party now. Hawkings has not been professional in dealing with me, they didn't call back when they said they would and they didn't meet their timeframes for fixing the issue. If you have a choice i would avoid them.

HSC is our go to company for our pool and air conditioner. Each tech we have had has been wonderful. We had an issue with the fans on our air conditioner unit and knew they we're on there last breath. HSC orders them and with in a few days they arrived. Scott, showed up and install them quickly and the unit is purring like a kitten again. Scott was kind and efficient. Highly recommend HSC.

Pool /spa repair. The scheduling department has room to improve. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. There needs to be a better computer system maybe. I don't know their scheduling system but there must be something better to organized appointments and follow up with clients.
Anyway. Robert the pool spa expert is professional, dedicated, knowledgeable, communicates well, and has already diagnosed and repaired several of the issues with my spa. I had been neglecting it and other issues at the house. He has also notified me of what he is going to order and when he will probably be receiving the products and repair the remainder of the issues. He informed me of all possibilities and potential pricing. He also will be communicating with the electricians at Hawkins services working with lighting to fix my lighting issues hopefully this week. I will update on that as well. I can't wait to have it all fixed and I feel confident with Robert on my side.
Thank you Robert and Hawkins services
