I hired Frank Gay due to not having much A/C experience and knowing which company would be the most competent. Well it is for sure not Frank Gay. I own a mini split A/C unit for my house, and I had FG move the copper line from inside a wall, to the outside due to the previous owner having it installed inside. Shoold have been a simple procedure for them. Following them moving the line, they state that it was all functioning properly, fully charged, and refilled. I expressed that it didn't seem to be blowing properly, but they told me it takes time to warm up again with being refilled. A few days go by and I can noticeably tell that it is still not functioning properly and I am sweating when I'm trying to sleep. I end up asking for a mini split expert from them, and he came out for no more than 5 minutes, and said it is running properly. I wanted him to check seeing as the work was done so recently and it to be covered, instead of waiting too long.

A cold front goes by over the next few days and my heat on the unit doesn't work whatsoever. I had to wear a sweatshirt and sweatpants all day in my house due to the unit not working properly, as it did prior to thier work. I had the same mini split ""expert"" come back out to evaluate my unit, due to it not functioning at all, and he told me a frog fried my units motherboard, and it's $750 to replace it or $11k for a whole new system. He stated he'd find a board and contact me. It's been about a week and I still have not heard from him. The frog was not the issue at all, which I later learned from a second opinion.

I had a second opinion from Coastal Cooling Solutions, who was recommended by a friend, and they were exceptionally knowledgeable. They diagnosed that there was a leak in my line, no Freon at all, and because it went without Freon for so long, it burnt up my compressor. So not only did they state my unit was functioning improperly for weeks, but I also paid for expensive Freon to be placed in my unit while it all escaped from a leak, and damaged my A/C unit beyond repair. The compressor is not able to be found for replacement and I'm now having to replace my whole Unit and split heads. If this leak was caught following the work they did the first time, by properly testing the system, I would still have a functioning unit and not have to spend thousands to replace it. Do not trust FG to do any work AT ALL on your house because it will end up costing you thousands in the long run. I also have a dog in the house with me, and I worry that he will overheat if the house gets too hot or freeze if the house is too cold for too long. If I'm feeling it. I know he is feeling it.

Im currently waiting for management to contact me about this issue, and I'm hoping they take proper accountability to stand behind the work of thier employees on the property and belongings of others.

Dont trust them. New ownership is to sell hard and get commissions. Our AC (2.5 years old) was acting up, so we had a review, and Fran Gay said - it's broken and you need to replace it ($20,000). I sought another opinion and they said "" oh your Nest thermostat is programmed incorrectly and corrected it. Cost $99 vs $20,000. Frank Gay- scam or incompetence? BEWARE !!!

I reached out to establish regular HVAC maintenance for our new home. I booked the appointment via the website for a weekend day, and a guy came out to the house. Immediately he tells me that he prefers not to do maintenance work on a weekend day, says that he's awfully busy, and asks if he can instead come back on another date. Wanting to be agreeable, I said OK -- although it was inconvenient and frankly disappointing. I'd left work early to be there for him. It was at that point that he decided to ""take a look"" anyway at our AC units prior to heading out.

After seeing the units, which are only 6 months old, he launched into a pitch about some type of add-on purported to improve the air quality, which in his words would result in ""hospital"" quality air throughout the house. This was a far cry from the maintenance I'd asked for, but again out of politeness I said something like ""Well, we'll consider it down the line"".

Not one to be let down by my lack of enthusiasm, he tells me that *if I'm going to do it, the best deals are to be had in the Winter.... because once that hot weather hits the thing will be in high demand and they won't negotiate on price*. Ooh! So at this point it's becoming pretty off-putting, and he barrels onward about the cost: something like $4000 per unit, x 2 units, amounting to about $8000. But wait, he says, he's going to make a SPECIAL CALL to someone with the power to give me a spectacular deal. All of this still just happening without explanation, unprompted.

I then have to watch this performative nonsense: his dramatic pitch to someone on the other end of a phone call which went something like *hey I've got this customer here who wants to know if you can bring it down to $2500 per unit.... I told him I dunno man... probably not but ... really?? Wow!""

He gets off the phone and assures me: ""I don't know HOW I got him to agree to THAT. It'd be just $2500 per unit, but this won't last forever. You'd better move on it, let me know by Friday"".

I'd never considered whether I might look like a complete gullible fool until that moment. Might I? I've since been lost in self-reflection.

After he left I called and canceled the annual maintenance I'd signed up for, realizing the nature of the technician(s) I'd be dealing with were I to keep the plan. I didn't get a full refund -- something like $50-60 was missing, I suppose the price of the performance.

Frank Gay Services has come to our rescue a few times. Why do things always break on the weekends? So easy to schedule an appt., the Technicians we have gotten have all be so kind and knowledgeable. They are a little high priced, but on the other hand you always get somebody on the phone when you're in a crisis, and they send out a Technician. They also send you a photo and a little bio about your Technician before they get to your home. This is an excellent practice for safety reasons. Very good Company to deal with!

I had a plumbing issue that needed to be taken care of in a fairly quick manner. I will say that I did speak with someone when I called, was able to get someone out the next day, and was able to get the work done the following day after that. The person who came was knowledgeable about the issue, and I am pleased with his work. What I am not pleased about is the lack of transparency of the charges. I was told the scope of the work would not exceed $X. When the technician did the work, he told me the amount, and I signed off on it. When I received the invoice a couple of days later, it was not what I was told, and was $X - $5, which was a couple hundred dollars more than what the technician told me. The invoice just had a flat amount for the job -- no breakdown whatsoever.
The person who answered the phone when I called to question it had no idea, as they just read the notes on the same invoice I was given. They take your credit card # before they do the work, and then charge the card immediately after they send the invoice. So it had already been paid when I looked at the invoice. The email with the invoice was sent at 7:09am, and the following email showing the invoice paid was also sent at 7:09am.
I do feel like the technician was good at his job, but the company, itself, will probably overcharge you, and have no explanation to give you for it. Consider yourself warned -- it will cost you plenty to use this company. I am happy with the job that was done, but I will NEVER use this company again.

Frank gay is a scam. 3 years ago our AC wasn't working on a weekend. I called Frank Gay the rep convinced me to sign up for their service plan because it was a better value. I've had regular AC service plans in the past with other homes so I agreed. The tech's have always been very courteous and appear to be knowledgeable. When the first guy came out, three years ago they somehow forgot to let him know that we had two units. I had told the first rep that we had two. Because it wasn't in his service notes he had to charge me the fee for the second unit. AC was fix and we moved on. fast forward to our first regular service and conveniently it was only listed that I had 1 unit. in order to service both units they had to charge me for the second unit... On top of that this rep was pushing adding a hard start to my units, to the tune of $440 a unit. No thanks. After much push back they did eventually refund me the double charge. Every time they come out for the annual maintenance they find something else wrong with the units that they didn't find before. The house is only now three years old. This last time they came out they again ""recommended"" I add hard start kits ( $878) and now recommending I had Single Ultra Violet Protection Kits to both units ($2308) there is no breakdown of the differential between parts and labor. a quick search shows that the hard start kits sell for $20 at home depot and a UV kit sells for around $75. The icing on the cake is the auto renewal of the service plan. Not a single communication that I was up for renewal, just a $298 charge to my credit card. This is the only company that I do business with that doesn't let you know that you are up for renewal. Called them right away to discuss and cancel. After much run around and being put on hold was told that they will take down my information and someone will get back with me in 17-14 business days.

Had an air condition unit put in they did a nice job and works great this review has to do with their office, management and selling tactics. Took out the extended warranty it's been a year they sent someone out to do maintenance of course he kept on trying to sell us things we did need after a few more tries he left. For a year I have been getting constant calls for plumbing and other things I found it odd that they thought I had a contract for other things beside our air conditioner. Well today I found out why when you use them they give you a complimentary year's warranty on a verity of things. No one bothered to tell me about this and today they hit my bank account for another year's service that I knew nothing about. Now I am afraid to use them for anything else. I bought the extended warranty why would I need another one. I have a plumber and electrician I don't need them and told them so. Please beware!
