HELLO TO ALL READING THIS, DON'T USE FOX SERVICE AT ALL COST, USE STAN'S OR ANYONE OTHER THAN FOX SERVICE COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I waited awhile before writing a review, since June 2025 thinking things would change, and the problems I'm having with Fox service company as an anomy. A little background, I've been using Fox for years now, with few issues, but I had them come out to service my 10-year-old air conditioner, and no I wasn't having any issues with it. Well, the tech came out and said I needed to replace my TXV and filter dryer for a cost of $3002.40, which are major items to change, I told them I wait considering I had American home shield. American home shield said nothing was wrong with my system, and honestly in retrospect I should have listen to them, but I decided to go with what Fox say, thinking hey this is a reputable company, and I've been using for years, and my system was 10 years old, so I decided to buy a new unit.
I ended buying a Lennox SL28CV for $26000 from fox which I regret, because I've had nothing but problems since the installation! Which was installed in June 2025 and Fox hasn't been any help at, and don't even return calls, I guess once they get your money MANGERS feel your not important anymore. I went from what they call a cheap 3-ton system to a top-of-the-line Lennox system, and this system doesn't even cool good, and during the day temperatures, it can't even get to the set temperature! (Example I set the temperature to 67 degrees and once the temperature starts to rise and goes to 77 degrees) Fox sent someone out to check the system, because I asked about new vent to be installed, she told me that my plenums were too small at a cost on $1900 X 3 to change, now mind you I just spent $26K on a system, so of course I asked why wasn't this addressed when I was buying the system, was told everything was good, so I was told that her manger Carlos would be calling me, well 3 weeks later no call, and then today 09/23/2024 I called Fox, and was told Carlos would be giving me a call, which didn't and I think it because, I remember during my installation they installed new plenum boxes, I'm they knew they screwed up and now unreachable! To all reading this, DON'T USE FOX SERVICE BECAUSE THEY UPCHARGE YOU FOR EVERYTHING BUT WONT BE AROUND WHEN THEIR SERVICE WAS MESSED UP!!!!!!!!!!!
Charged over $500 to replace a $50 part on my AC unit in less than half an hour. Meanwhile the technician came along with a salesperson who tried to sell a brand new unit and a yearly service plan. Overall a confusing experience that left me feeling taken advantage of. The AC is working now but would absolutely not recommend to a friend.
$350 for ""Enos"" to visit my house and hide the true cause of my problems -- a loose connection on the back of a 30 year-old outlet -- so he could stick me with a $1400 quote for a rewiring of the entire GFI circuit.
I'd give one star, but watching him check the outlets made me realize what was going on fairly quickly.
It is for subsidiary of Fox Service company at 1506 Ferguson Ln, Tx 78754.
On 8/26/2024, they came to apartment 2905 Swisher Street to fix the air condition. The fix was simple, just replacing a capacitor for the external unit. The capacitor costs is about $50. They spend about an hour to replace it. They charged me $580 for the total cost. When I asked them to give me a receipt with the break down of materials and labor cost for three times, they refused to do so.
Of course, they won't do it. The break down is: capacitor ($50)+ $530 hourly rate. The $530 per hour is pretty goofy.
This was one of the worst experiences I have had as a customer. I specifically requested certain work; they did not even come with the equipment. They just came with a laptop to sell me a new HVAC unit. I could hear them talking outside my office, and see them spending time in my driveway, to seem like they were actually working. Then, without doing any of the requested work, they told me to replace my unit, and it would cost $16,000.
I found an actual, amazing HVAC place that is replacing for $8,000. And they actually diagnosed the issue rather than coming with a person who was INTENT on upselling. Stay away at all costs.
I had previously had good experiences with Fox, but recently had them come out as my AC had stopped working. They showed up and briefly looked around and was then told I needed to replace the entire unit, (the unit was old, things were rusted, I had a coolant leak) they then presented me with a $14,000 estimate for a new unit or a $3000 temporary solution. I had asked them if there was anything we could do today to get the AC back on and was flat out told ""no"". I set up for another HVAC company to come out and they confirmed that I didn't have a coolant leak, and were able to get my AC back on within an hour of being there by simply clearing the drain pipe and cleaning the outside unit off for under $200. He did agree the unit would need to be replaced in the next year or two and quoted me $6500. I've called and left multiple messages to have a manager call me but haven't heard back. Im sure forcing people to make a huge financial decision while delirious from heat exhaustion has worked in their favor but I recommend you look elsewhere for a honest company.
If I could give negative stars I would.
We have two units in our home; the upstairs one, which is still under warranty, began to leak. We called Fox at the direction of the AC manufacturer, after an inspection [by me] identified a leaking coil.
Fox came to the house while I was traveling, and met with my wife. They refused to replace the coil under warranty w/o conducting a leak inspection test [750 dollars]; they then proceeded to fill the unit with refrigerant [535 dollars], telling my wife it would last for several weeks, and then said they would be back in approximately two weeks.
I spoke to them briefly and indicated that I wanted the coil replaced and that there was no point in putting the Freon in. The service technical, Waylon, indicated that this was the process we had to follow IF we wanted to use the Lennox warranty.
Four days later the unit is once again not cooling - all the Freon has leaked out, ten days earlier than the technician indicated. Naturally, we are leaving town and there is now no way to have the coil replaced, and we have spent money that was clearly an utter waste.
Frankly, I should have trusted my gut while on the phone - I found Waylon to be brusque, condescending and impolite - and either asked for another service technician, or worked with a different firm.
I am now waiting for someone to come to my home and waiting to speak with their service manager. I would be extremely careful with using Fox as my impression is that their services are expensive and that they pad their visits with unnecessary or non-value additions. What ethical and professional service technician would recommend filling an air conditioning unit with a visible leak with four units of refrigerant knowing that it would have to replaced yet again. Unconscionable.
I agree with prior reviewers that Fox 's service and integrity have hit a new low. we have had AC units installed and utilized their maintenance plan in the past but recently needed their help on diagnosing problems with 2 units on a home. They sent 3 guys who said the units needed to be replaced and quoted $11,000 for one unit!! Outrageous. Got a second opinion and readings were within range and filter needed changing, and quoted $4400 for replacing one unit. Really Fox? That is a lousy way to do business. Shame on you.
This company had a good reputation in the past. But the service is now terrible. When you call, you likely will get a call center in Florida. They message the Austin office. The Austin office may or may not have adequate personnel. The notes system seems to have flaws such that a technician may not know anything about prior work. The 24/7 just means they answer the phones (out of a call center) 24/7. They certainly are not staffed to do work anymore than any 8a to 5p business. Online, I read that they were acquired and are part of a roll-up of A/C firms nationally.
Fox used to be an amazing company; we had used them for decades. But since they got acquired by Southern HVAC, they have been absolutely terrible. Several calls to fix the same issue, worth different diagnosis for each visit. No return phone calls when the problem still isn't fixed. We've had a ""priority one"" service contact for over 10 years, but it means absolutely nothing. No escalated or expedited calls or customer service. We've literally been without functional AC for 3 weeks and they don't even return our phone calls. We paid several hundred dollars, in advance, for them to order the part they said we needed and then they ghosted us. It's supposed to be 101 degrees later today and absolutely nothing from Fox. We're calling Stan's (recommended by neighbors) and just gonna get a new unit.
