FoF does professional and honest work. I moved into a new place that required a big rewiring project to get the electrical up to code, they did great work. We ran into a small issue after the work was completed, where they had cracked a drain pipe in our crawlspace which led to some floor damage. However, they absolutely did the right thing, and paid for a complete replacement of the wood floors in that room. Really solid guys and would definitely recommend them.

Getting an appointment was easy using their website. Communication regarding ETA of electrician was good and the electrician arrived within promised window time.
We discussed a few exterior and interior jobs but due to cost and amount of work necessary, I decided to not move forward for the exterior projects. I am suppose to get quotes for the interior projects, but never received them after following up twice.
Guess my projects isn't worth their time.

Eric was extremely on time, professional and helpful diagnosing my broken ceiling light fan. It was a free consultation and was very quick and efficient. I later bought new light bulbs and it was working again.

I hired FIVE OR FREE ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS to add an outdoor electrical outlet at my home. We agreed on a verbal quote, the worker did the job and upon completion was paid in full. A few days later, the company contacted me by phone to say that the worker had made a mistake and that I owed them more than initially quoted.

When I asked for the original invoice, the company sent me a version with the new, higher price instead of the original quoted price. This was incredibly frustrating; the company was not transparent about its pricing, they did not communicate any additional charge beforehand, and did not provide me with a copy of the quote to which I agreed.

I cannot recommend Five Or Free Electrical due to their questionable billing practices. The fact that they charged me more than originally agreed upon and failed to provide an original invoice is unacceptable. I would not hire this company again.

The people at Five or Free did a great job installing a chandelier for me. The chandelier was meant for a flat ceiling and the ceiling where we wanted the chandelier is sloped. Eddie came to install it and was very professional. I liked that he was very concerned about the aesthetics of the final solution. The chandelier looks great now! I am very happy with their work and I would recommend them.

UPSELL ALERT!!!! This is one greedy company. One of their electricians came by because I just needed help figuring out which receptacles should be replaced with gfci outlets to make them safer. The electrician didn't even want to address the issue with the straightforward approach. Instead they tried to upsell me on rewiring the entire property and of course charging me many times more for the courtesy. When I told him I just want to do this to make the outlets safer for now he told me straight up it wasn't worth it for them to do a small job like that and so made it clear they only are willing to do the large expensive projects and will push you to go in that direction. If you just want straightforward electrical work and repair find another company is my recommendation and steer clear of these money hungry ones.

I wanted to replace & relocate my main panel with a 200A one before installing solar. End of Nov 2022 I got quotes from electricians referred by friends and also used Yelp's request-a-quote feature to get several quotes, including Five Or Free. Ultimately I went with Five Or Free to do the job and was pleased with the experience and results.

Jonathan first contacted me via Yelp, then talked over phone, and was helpful in the background through the project. Eric D came over to do the estimate and was really friendly/knowledgeable/professional. The estimate was the highest, but I was won over by the inclusion of some extra circuits I knew I'd need later, handling all permit-related work, and peace of mind knowing their high standards/guarantees.

Damell and Eddie did most of the work. New panel, new riser, moving the wiring from the old panel, new ground (had to run it across the house), and the additional circuits. They were friendly and worked hard. Tim came over for some small electrical followups i.e. moving sump pump off arc fault breaker juuuust in case.

There's another Eric who does permitting work who managed the PG&E and city communications + inspections, which went smoothly. He also did a lot of painting, weatherproofing, fixed a attic vent that was bent while installing the new riser, and a big list of other stuff I asked him about to make sure everything was clean and looked good at the end.

I really got a ""We'll keep working until it's perfect"" vibe from everyone throughout, which is what I was hoping for at their higher price point. It's now been a few months since they finished the project and my solar installation by Tesla went very smoothly with them connecting into the new panel.

I'd use Five or Free again for big projects or for a big bunch of smaller projects to take advantage of their project management / strong organizational support in addition to top quality work.

We wanted to get a new GFCI outlet in the bathroom for a bidet toilet we plan on getting and the came and assessed the job quickly. We set an appointment for it that day, and they came and did the job very quickly and left the place looking great! I would definitely use them again. Thanks for everything!

I had previously reached out to five or free for a quote but eventually had my solar company that was doing work include what I'd reached out to Five or Free for.
I decided to give them another shot for a very very simple job. Probably should've done it myself all said and done. I was quoted $225 for literally 20-30mins worth of work. Cutting an existing wire that had been wired to the dishwasher and installing an outlet box for what I thought was needed for code.
Seemed like a high quote for a 1/2hrs time but decided to give them the chance. After the work was done
1) i was disappointed to learn I didn't need to have this work done, it would've been fine to wire the new dishwasher directly the way the prior unit had been. It actually made our dishwasher install unnecessarily harder. Also disappointed because I feel I'd obviously overpaid, AND our quoting rep could've better educated us rather than making a quick buck. I'm in sales, I'm well versed in educating customers on what's right / needed for a job vs just pushing a sale.
2) install rep gets a 4/5. Quick and professional but didn't put the box where we'd expected or hoped. With the dishwasher plugged in we actually can't set the washer back far enough due to the plug hitting the back of the unit. So I'll end up having to rewire the dishwasher with a flat plug.
