Great-grandpa Difranco immigrated from Italy many years ago as a tradesman. My grandfather, Eugene Difranco, was a tradesman in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1986, my father transitioned to California to establish a business in Palm Springs, and I, Dane Feldman, came on board. When my grandfather passed away, we felt compelled to start a new venture using his name. Erkies Electrical Heating and Air is now a staple in the Coachella Valley. Rest in peace, Eugene Difranco.
I’m Dane, and I’ve been in the trade since I was a kid. In 1994, I joined my father in the Coachella Valley, where I refined my expertise in Electrical, Heating, and Air Conditioning. Today, I still serve the community I hold dear and carry on this journey.

Recommended Customer Reviews

This review is way overdue, but I wanted to base it on more than just our initial reaction. In the Spring, we contacted Erkies based on a friends recommendation to replace/upgrade our builder-installed existing air-conditioner and we are so glad we did. From start to finish, this is a first-class company, very professional and very customer oriented. We had been having issues with our compressor line freezing up and so we had Dane, the owner, come out and evaluate our situation. He discovered that the builder had mismatched the coils and compressor which accounted for some of the coverage problems we were having. He also gave us helpful information to evaluate whether it made more financial sense to fix the existing system or upgrade to a new high-efficiency system. We chose the latter option and purchased a 5-ton, 20 SEER, variable speed Maytag unit which Dane recommended because of their longer 12-year warranty and his experience with the reliability of the brand. Let me tell you, this has been a dream unit. The compressor is located on the outside of our TV room so we are particularly concerned about noise. This unit is so quiet, you can barely hear it at all in the house. The variable speed means that most of the time the compressor and the blower in the attic, operate at a lower speed in our home and that means its very quiet inside the house as well. Our monthly electrical costs associated with air-conditioning have dropped by about 40%.
Through the whole process of evaluating our situation, making recommendations and providing us with options, we never once felt pressured by Dane to make any particular purchase. Once we made our decision, the whole process of doing the install was handled very professionally. The folks in the office who do the scheduling are wonderful, very sweet and accommodating. The guys showed up to do the installation right on time and were top-notch. They were very polite, professional and caring. They gave us the ""red carpet"" treatment, by putting down roll-out flooring covers to protect our tile and carpet and were very careful with our walls and furnishings. They obviously knew what they were doing and were gracious in answering my many questions. The installation took a couple days since we also opted to install a whole house, steam humidifier for comfort as well as to protect our piano from warping in the dry desert air. They also installed a new Honeywell programmable thermostat which included integrated controls for the humidifier. We really like the small size and sleek design. The guys always showed up on time worked diligently and made sure it was all done correctly. All the guys were really wonderful, but I'm giving a special shout out to Tahari Reed who went above and beyond so many times. He goes by ""T"", but I think he has one of the coolest names, ever.
In summary, if you want quality work done by professionals at a competitive price, look no further than Erkies. Dane likes to say, ""you're now part of the Erkies family."" He definitely makes you feel like family. We know we're in good hands.

BEWARE OF ERKIES HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING
BE CAREFUL, NEIGHBORS. SEVERAL OF MY FRIENDS HAVE TOLD ME THAT THEY THINK THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO THEM.
When my air conditioning unit wasn't cooling the house down all the way, I made the mistake of calling ERKIES HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING for service.
The tech from ERKIES checked my system and said, ""All the refrigerant had leaked out."" He gave me an estimate of over $1000 to fix the leak and to refill the refrigerant and various other things. I told him I thought it sounded like a lot and would have to wait and do the service another time.
Before he and his colleague left, I heard a loud hissing noise coming from the air conditioning condenser behind the house.
After they left I checked my air conditioner. It was only blowing warm air.
Before Erkies got there my system was blowing cool -- not cool enough, but cool -- air on a 110 degree day.
After they left, it was blowing warm air.
WHY is that significant?
TO RUN COOL AT ALL, IT HAD TO HAVE REFRIGERANT IN IT. The Erkies assessment -- that all the refrigerant was gone because of a leak -- was simply UNTRUE.
If I had not been standing outside and heard the release of the refrigerant I never would have known something was up.
To get a second opinion, I was able to reach an air conditioning guy that I trusted, who had serviced my unit the year before.
He tested my system and confirmed what I thought --THERE WAS NO LEAK. He refilled my refrigerant and now my house is as cool as could be.
I spoke to Dane, the owner of Erkies. He was not interested in hearing anything I had to say and has no intention to resolve the situation that they created.
All I can say is: My new air conditioning technician found NO SUCH LEAK and found nothing to fix. He did have to replace all the refrigerant that had magically disappeared when Erkies was here.
It's unfortunate that this happened. It makes it so much worse that the owner of Erkies won't take responsibility even when it's confirmed that the LEAK that they describe DOESN'T EXIST.
Since this happened to me I have heard so many other story's from friends that were told their systems had leaked ""all"" the refrigerant out.
ANYTIME YOU HAVE YOUR A/C SERVICED MAKE SURE YOU KEEP AN EYE ON WHAT THEY ARE DOING SO THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO YOU.
...AND DON'T CALL ERKIES

As part of a compliance mandate by the city of Palm Springs I had to get a GFCI breaker installed on our existing pool equipment. I found Erkies on Thumbtack as they were the quickest to respond as I needed a quick turnaround. I didn't know the full scope of the job and agreed to the $451 charge.
The job took 30 minutes to complete; the breaker retails for ~$90 so $361 in labor. In hindsight (job dates 11/18), I know some of my neighbors that had the same job done by other licensed electricians for about half the price. All in all the work was done right but I know I overpaid. I never enjoy writing less than stellar reviews but I hope the feedback helps both the business as well as the owner. Transparency equals trust.

We've been clients of Erkies for the past two years for our two vacation rental properties after leaving ""The General"" due to horrendous service and a shoddy install of our A/C and furnace. We just had a regular scheduled preventative maintenance call with Erkies, and Tanner and Kris came out today to work on our A/C unit. Tanner was exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. I mentioned to him that the unit was making an unusual noise when the unit started up. He immediately started diagnosing the issue and discovered a part with the original installation (done by ""the General"") was faulty, and replaced it on the spot. The service, expertise and level of professionalism provided by Erkies is unmatched, and we trust them to keep our equipment running a peak performance. We continue to be highly satisfied clients and absolutely recommend them. You truly won't find a better local outfit.

I was in need of having a chandelier lowered and rewired. The job took a bit longer than expected as the chandelier was a special order product. Dane from Erkies did and excellent job and didn't try to rush the job. The work was done professionally and with very good customer service. I'm looking forward to using them for other jobs I have to complete.

After waiting all day for tech to show up to check 3 A/C units comes to find out they don't stock the adapter to fill it with freon. Really, the worse excuse ever, maybe they need to hire people that know what they are doing and staying off there cell phone.

I called Erkie's when my A/C went out. Working around my schedule, they came to the rescue. Tahari and Bill came and fixed my A/C quickly and explained everything they were doing. Both so knowledgeable and nice. Great phone customer service, too. Everyone is so pleasant! Thank you Erkies!

I work at Joshua Tree Coffee Company in Joshua Tree. Our fridge went out, which is a nightmare in the food industry. We called them, and knowing how quickly we needed help, the owner himself came out after hours.
He and his office staff are super friendly and helpful. He explained everything he did and was very knowledgeable. We appreciated the prompt attention and awesome service we received.
I would recommend this company to anyone who needs a friendly, honest company.

I was visiting my Ma for the holidays and she had some electrical issues with dated flickering fluorescent lighting fixture in the laundry room. I called several electricians in the area but no one could get out quickly. I did a google search and found Erkies. I called them up spoke with Dale. He came out the very next day on NYE and Installed a newer LED fixture. I couldn't be happier he was professional and quick.
Now my Ma can see what's she's is doing instead of doing laundry in a cave. Definitely would use them again.

Our electric outlets were not working in the kitchen and bathroom. Thought it was one of the circuit breakers that had to be replaced. Dane at Erkies mentioned to press the GFI outlet first since this maybe off. Indeed it was the problem and when I turned it on all the power went back on. Saved time and money. Thank you Erkies. By the way, I had them repaired my air conditioner in the past and did an excellent job!
