Hired them in Austin for a new business setup. I have multiple businesses, and have moved offices at least 10 times in my career. This is by far the worst wiring job I have gotten. None of the wires were properly labeled and the entire thing was a mess. They did not even consider providing a refund or having someone fix the job. DO NOT hire this company. SO MANY other better providers - we called one to fix the job and had to repay the money and it was done instantly.

Last week I paid Dunman Electric to come out to a spot I am locating my business at and give me a bid for necessary electrical work and let them know it is on a time frame. Based on their information for what was needed and what I could do personally to get it started and save money, and BEFORE they finalized their bid, i spent personal time and efforts trenching my own trench, paying for the trencher I needed, buying all of the hand tools, and paying 2 other workers for help in the tough ground here in order to maximize efficiency on my end and lower the cost. That was well over $1000, plus their assessment fee on top of that out of pocket and a lot of time that I don't have much of being a business owner. All of this only to find out that the work I did and all of the money I spent was absolutely unnecessary and that there was a better way, a cheaper way, and a less expensive way. I got 2 other independent contractors to check the spot and give quotes, and they both--unbeknownst to each other--showed me the same, and better way at a cheaper cost. 1 quote that was less than 1/2 of the Dunman quote, and the other was still much cheaper. The business practices employed towards trying to trick me into over paying for their services and having me spend large amounts of money and efforts doing my own work before hand--which tends to solidify using them as a choice (because who wants to waste money, time, and effort on something then go another direction?) is a disgusting business practice. Now I have no doubt they would have done very good and very timely work but, do to the amount of work out there for electricians in the current market these large contractors are flooded with business and they have no problem trying to overcharge those who are not educated in their field and small business owners like myself because they don't need the business. I highly recommend getting spending the small fees for assessment from multiple sources before choosing, and I highly recommend smaller, independent contractors that actually want your business and are more likely to give honest bids. These kinds of business practices hurt small companies like mine a lot, and now this has cost me all of the money I had for the advertising campaign I had planned out and the time it spent putting it together. Now my means towards paying for the proper advertising for my grand opening are gone due to their disgusting practices and greed.

Last weekend a wind storm knocked a tree branch down into power lines. I called and asked for emergency service on a Sunday. The company sent out Keith Brown which you should always feel good about. He worked for about 6 hours and did an incredible job. The follow up work was done by another electrician a day later, that never gave me a card so I don't know his name. When he left he asked me to sign off. I asked if it was done and he said no. I had already paid $4100 and refused to sign off as it was not done. The electrician threw the ipad in the car and drove off. A few hours later I got a call saying that since I had refused to let them in my house it couldn't be completed. I asked what they were talking about as I had let the technician in the house twice and would have let him in more if needed and didn't appreciate being called a liar. They said that there was some miscommunication and as I was RED HOT at that time I said I wanted an apology rom the owner.
The owner called back and again said there was miscommunication. I asked about the senior citizen discount as advertised. I also stated that I am not a liar and didn't appreciate his employee telling stories. He said that the employee would come back the next day to compensate me and that I would feel rally good about the compensation.
The good employee came back but with no check. To bad because the insurance agent was here and I was going to turn it over to the agent.
Today is 5 days later. NO CHECK. I emailed Mr. Dunman. He pretended to act as if he didn't know what I was talking about and said he would send a $50 check in the mail to me tomorrow. Let me see less than a 2% credit. Really? Good luck if you choose this company.
Keep your $50. Karma is a b---.

Dunman Electric has always been timely. If you can't tell by my other reviews, that is my pet peeve. I love it when service people are prompt and fix the issue. I was having a constant problem of my doorbell frying. After about three visits by Dunman over 1.5 years, a technician told me that when my doorbell button outside gets stuck, it will fry the inside bell. They didn't even charge me to fix it again. I have had very good service.

We used Dunman Electric to convert a workshop into a guest house. They ran wire from our main house to the workshop, installed the complete electric system (panel, lights, outlets, etc.), worked with the City of Austin to obtain permits and more. We were thoroughly pleased with every technician who stopped by the house during this long process- they were polite, knowledgable and worked in collaboration with the other contractors we had on site. When little issues came up (because every project of this scale has them), they worked diligently to problem solve in a timely and efficient manner. Becky was always professional and helpful on the phone and Craig runs his business with honesty and integrity. We will definitely reach out to them for our electric work in the future. Thanks Dunman Electric!

Contacted this company to schedule an estimate for some electrical work. Technicians arrived timely and were professional however, after talking through the scope of work and taking some measurements we were informed that this company charges a service call for estimates? Of course we paid this fee however a standard business practice that most companies follow is to disclose this fee upfront when the appointment is scheduled. My concern, what other surprises can I expect if I engage this business to do our electrical work.

Unfortunately I am one of the apparently many that have had horrible experiences with Dunman Electric. My first mistake was not looking at yelp before hiring them. However, both my mother and brother used them around 6 years ago and had no issues so it didn't even cross my mind.
I called Dunman on Tuesday 9/11/18 to get a quote for installing two ceiling fans I had purchased. The receptionist, Becky, was incredibly nice and told me that they charge $95 per fan if there is already existing blocking, or $120 per fan if there is no blocking. This seemed like a reasonable price, so I scheduled the installation for 9/14/18 and was very pleased they were able to fit me in so quickly. My second mistake was not getting these prices in writing.
I scheduled the time frame for 10am-12pm because I have two roommates that work late and sleep in, but I got a call at 9 am that the technicians would be there in 15 minutes. They were at the house 5 minutes later. Thankfully, my roommate woke up to my call to let them in and my parents were able to get to the house quickly to meet them. It was a bit stressful and I had spend 15 minutes of work time dealing with it, but I let it go because I know these things happen.
Then, when the technicians started they did not place any sort of plastic down under the first fan so my roommate's bed, dressers, and floor was COVERED in insulation (which had fiberglass in it) and drywall dust. They shook out her comforter and vacuumed the floor when they were done, but they still left a huge mess and we had to to a much more extensive cleaning later before she could sleep that night.
Next, there was an issue with the fan blades. The fan blades had two sides with different colors. They installed them black side down without asking which color we preferred. This was partially our mistake for not making clear which side to do before they started, but when asked to flip them they said, ""Well I picked the black side because it matched the furniture."" It is not a technician's job to decide which color blade looks better in someone else's house. He then said it would be another $80 to flip the blades. This was quite annoying but, again, I just let it go and figured I would just figure out how to flip them later.
But then came time to pay. They finished and said the total was $569.
That is well over double the price I was told. They said they charged $170/hour, it took 3 hours, and there was an extra fee because I had not had any blocking for the fans. Unfortunately, my mom did not realize what they had quoted me and filled out a blank check I had left.
They also left their ladder in the garage, as well as the old lights and trash from the ceiling fan packaging in piles in the rooms.
I was still at work but I immediately called back the office and relayed everything that had happened to the receptionist to figure out what was going on. She told me she would pass my complaints on to a manager, who would get in contact with me after she talked to the technicians. I called back after an hour of not hearing from them. The receptionist informed me my case had been escalated to the owner and he would get in contact with me, however he was at an electrical emergency and it may not be until later that afternoon before I heard from him. I never heard from him. At this point I put a stop payment on the check so it would not be cashed before I had a chance to talk to Craig.
I had to call them back myself Monday. When I finally got in touch with him he informed me that while, yes, his receptionist had told me $120 per fan, the lowest he would go for the service was $450. $125 per fan installation plus $100 per fan for the blocking.
At this point I had already had to take a half day off of work and spent the entire weekend stressing about the situation. I am a first time, single homeowner in my 20's and I do not have $300+ laying around for a job I thought would be much cheaper. I would never have agreed to let this company do the work if I had gotten a quote for this amount upfront. It is not a good feeling to feel like you have been scammed. From the looks of the other reviews it seems like I'm not the first person that has felt this way after hiring them. On the plus side, they have taught me to always get any quotes for work in writing.
I would strongly advise anyone looking for an electrician to look elsewhere. There are plenty of honest companies in Austin. If you insist on using Dunman, make sure you get everything in writing. In the end, I agreed to this price to get all of this behind me and to keep from missing any more work, not because I thought it was fair or just. I truly hope Craig and everyone else at Dunman learns from this experience and can provide better service for their customers.

Dunman electric installed 16 canned lights for us and replaced a couple of ceiling fans. They were prompt, polite, clean, and everything worked well when they left. The second day they didn't show because another job ran long but the office called us. (That was nice).
We had added in an ""extra"" to our original scope of work and that was a bit pricey because it took them 1.5 hrs to get the capacitor from Home Depot because they didn't have it on their truck. In the future I might ask for this cost up front.
Overall we were happy with the service. I would call them again.

I would not recommend Dunman Electric. They provided service that caused minor cracking in the ceiling of the bathroom; left an unsightly access to the attic; failed to complete an issue involving track lighting in the living area; invoice was high; and customer service to address concerns abysmal.

I recently hired Dunman Electric to do the electrical work in a recent kitchen remodel in my home. The scheduling was easy and flexible. The crew was friendly. The job was well done. They are not the most reasonable for their services but the scheduling was easy, workers were friendly and did the job right. Thanks Dunman Electric!
