My regular electrician gets booked weeks in advance, and I decided to try Dunman Electric to install a security camera with a floodlight. I sent them a picture of the completed project on another property. Becky said her company can complete this project and would try to match the price.

The security camera is white and installing it on a white box makes the most esthetic sense. The picture I sent to Becky clearly showed the camera installed on a white box.

Dunman electric chose to install the camera on a gray box which did not match either the wall or the camera. The gray box they installed looks ugly and unprofessional. They charged me 50% more than what was quoted by another electrician, but they offered to replace the gray box with a white one if I payed $99 more for another service visit.

I wish I read Yelp reviews about this company before I hired them.

So far, we paid them to come give us a quote. They charged us $99, but they never gave us the quote. I called after a month and they acted like they were surprised that we didn't receive the quote. They said they'd get right on it. That was two weeks ago. I'll be asking for our money back.

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with this company. I first reached out to Dunman electric on 4/26. We were able to get them scheduled for an inspection on 5/3. The inspection was $225, and following this, our understanding was that they would provide an estimate for how much it would cost to complete our electrical repair - which was part of a large remodel. Rather than a list of needed repairs and estimated costs for labor and materials to complete them, this is (verbatim) what they gave us:

""Performed inspection of basement. Found several things that are not to code. Man had done a lot of things out of code. The only way Dunman electric will do this work is for Dunman electric to come in and treat it as if it were a new rough in and trim out. Any work that was performed by the customer will need to be removed and new put in. This is the only way we can feel confident to put on licence on this job. All framing will have to be up."" Based on this information alone, they were going to charge us over $6,000 to do the work.

Of note, they quoted us this $6,000+ price after the inspector that came out to the property verbally quoted us that the job would cost roughly $3600. We called and emailed over the month of May and into June, with the request to revise the quote to include a breakdown of costs for labor, materials, permit transfers, etc. They did not revise the document; at one point they said they would look into it, and then did not get back to us. I finally followed up by email. When they still did not respond, I waited a week and emailed again, this time requesting a refund for the inspection and stating that unfortunately I would need to write a negative review. Then, they wrote back, to refuse the refund of the inspection cost and tell me they had replied many times to my request. Unfortunately, this was not consistent with my experience, and truthfully their reply felt defensive in tone.

I can't speak to the quality of their work because we chose not to move forward with this company, but we would have appreciated improved clarity in communication on the front end.

Removed a faulty ceiling fan, and fixed another that had not been working. Pleasant, friendly, efficient, and reasonably priced. Will call again when I am ready to replace the first fan.

Installed the wrong cable, left a hole in my ceiling, and charged an extravagant price.

Completely unprofessional. Hired them to install appropriate CAT cable to an upstairs office that would work with our Google Fiber mesh network and increase speeds to the hardwired room. First of all, technician arrived 3 hours LATE with no advance notice. Technician seemed clueless on how to solution my request. Ultimately, his recommended solution was to install a CAT6. It took him almost and hour to come up with the solution. Upon installation, we immediately saw a negative impacted to our network speeds. These guys did a shotty job. Lead technician had a poor attitude and honestly didn't seem educated enough for the job. On top of everything, Dunman marked up the CAT6 conduit ten times the retail price, charged me 4 hours labor x 2 technicians (1 was a trainee) for a job that should have taken less than 30mins. They charged me $642.20 just for LABOR!! THEN, Dunman Billed my credit card for $1055.50, without authorization, EVEN after I indicated to them (IN WRITING) that I did not agree with their invoice. Overall, a horrible experience and wouldn't recommend you doing business with the dishonest company.

They were on time, professional, at a good price. I've used them several times over the years. Dunman is my go to place.

I would not hire this company for cabling work. I don't know if they are competent for electrical work, but cable work is not their forte. They sent workers out who did not seem to know what they were doing and couldn't answer questions, were noncommittal in their responses and intended to leave cabling wires etc. sprawling out of the walls because they don't organize and secure the cables/wires that they run. It was a totally worthless experience. I paid them $300 for nothing.

I would give zero stars if this was an option. I do not recommend this company unless you have deep pockets and want to throw alot of money away. On Sunday, half of my house did not have electricity and after checking my GFCI and doing some basic tests, decided to call Dunham. They informed me that it would be $239 for the weekend service call and that their hourly rate was $219. When the electrician arrived he informed me he knew what the problem was. A bad breaker. Well after installing the new breaker, the problem was not resolved. He made a call and then came back to inform me that it was a city problem. After less than 30 minutes being there, he presents me with a bill for $501.25. I called Becky and left a voicemail stating that I should not be charged for some of that service as it was a city problem and in essence they did not fix it. I received no call back and still haven't. So I basically paid $501.25 for a breaker that probably didn't need to be replaced and I could get at Lowes for under $20. When the city came out, they did inform me it was the city's problem and promptly fixed it. I told them I had called an electrician and had been charged over $500. They asked me who, and I told them Dunham Electric. He said good to know, as they too won't recommend them to anyone either. Also, they informed me that if a homeowner ever has an electrical issue, you can call 311 to have them come out, free of charge, to make sure it is not a city problem. I wish I had known that before I got scammed out of over $500.
