We at Dollens Electric is a comprehensive provider of electrical services throughout northern California. Started in 2005 by Steve, we set out to offer home electrical solutions to the San Jose area. Over the years, we have expanded geographically, and incorporated various service categories to what we provide.

We at Dollens Electric is a family-operated and managed company. Reach out to us, you will meet Steve Dollens, who we fondly refer to as Papa, a seasoned Electrical Engineer with 30 plus years under his belt. Jason, an electrical contractor with 15 plus years of experience, along with me, I, Josephine, started out 16 years back in semiconductor manufacturing as well as creating circuit boards. In time, I moved on to become Vice President of Administration for a tech company prior to transitioning to the owner plus the office manager. You will be introduced to our office assistant Athena as well as Bryon, our skilled electrician. Together, we work hard to deliver the highest quality service plus client care.

If there were negative stars I would opt for that. They installed an electrical outlet for our electric car. Overpriced to say the least and had a ton of hidden charges. Told us we could stand inspection when city came out, but failed to provide necessary paperwork for inspection. Inspector came out second time and started asking us technical questions and said dollens needed to be there. Dollens is now here for 3rd inspection appt and charging 225 minimum and 98 for each additional hour. We were extorted several hundreds of dollars for a horrible and deceiving experience. I would not recommend them for any work based on shady ethic practices.

Steve Dollens electric is a shady outfit and you should stay away. They offered to do work and record it as energy improvement so I would get a larger rebate. I told them I will not be deceptive and declined the offer. I put in a system and it failed inspection. Steve wanted to get paid before he passed. Wonder why? They left my house open lights on and stole tools and documents from my home. The price is too high and quality too low. The owner Steve is arrogant and accusatory he will not accept any responsibility and takes every opportunity blame others.
I am sorry I every met this company.

I just had my 240 outlet installed for my electric car and wanted to pass along the a great review. Jason and team did a great job and I'm very satisfied.

They ran a 50 amp line from my panel, under my house to the outside of my garage and installed an RV rain proof box. The run was about 130 feet. They did a great job and no conduit on the outside of the house. They also give 10% internet discounts and 5% Facebook like discounts. The cost was a little over $1000.

The install was clean and easy. Other quotes I got where between $1500 to $1800.

I'm planning on using them for other work in the future.

Extremely satisfied Dollens Electrion Corporation customer.
We used Dollens Electric Corporation to upgrade our electric panel, install recess lighting and new switches, and troubleshoot a few minor electrical issues. The process was flawless from start to finish: the electricians were courteous and arrived on time every time, and the job was completed in the time described. We had one issue that probably came down to a miscommunication, but Dollens Electric fixed that issue at no cost.
I wish all my experiences with contractors went this smoothly. Dollens will be my electrician of choice going forward.

Very satisfied customer and would definitely recommend them. They did 2 wall drops and a ceiling fan installation at my house. I had searched around and got a couple quotes and they were far better than anyone else (btw, they give military and first time user discounts). I hired Dollens Electric for light installation and various other electrical services. They were the most expensive of three bids just over $3000 but I hired them thinking the service would be superior. It was not.

Although the installation guys were very nice, after they finished the first day I had a laundry list of items that needed correction, redone, or items they forgot to do. For instance leaving my home unlocked when they left even though I wasn't home, not turning all the power back on, electric outlets were installed loose, light switches with mismatched switch plates, tearing my dryer vent off and not repairing it... I could go on. Then there was miscommunication by Jason about the price of some fixtures as I was verbally quoted a price and then later told that the price was higher because of tax and shipping which I was not told when I agreed to the fixtures. The conversation with Jason about this issue was unpleasant enough for me not to recommend this company to anyone. In dealing with many contractors over the years these issued could probably be considered fairly minor, but all in all I wasn't left with a comfortable feeling about the work they did. The only thing I can say they were really on top of was getting their payment. The lady in their office made a point to drive over to my house within 15 minutes of a phone call to collect payment even though I was still waiting on fixtures to come in and repairs. It's unfortunate that their attention to detail, accuracy, and customer service are not handled as efficiently. Maybe they were having a bad day, who knows. They weren't the worst but certainly not the best. So, my rating is 2 stars, I've experienced better.

Update 2/18/09: I received an email from the business owner today:

I came across your comments about the electrical work we did for you. You did not mention that our guys returned specifically to assist you with items of concern. Was everything fixed to your satisfaction? We value ALL our customers....even the picky ones.

In response, I do not believe that leaving my home unlocked, damaging my dryer hose, not turning the power back on is considered being ""picky"" nor were most of the issues something that they could return to correct. And no, I replaced the dryer hose myself and I corrected the loosely installed outlets. On the return visit they did replace a mismatched faceplate when they completed the job. I hope this clarifies the situation and the owner's email about me being a ""picky"" customer certainly clarifies the type of business they are for all the readers.
