With over 75 years of experience, Cullum Electric and Mechanical has been a leader in the field. Cullum Electric was founded by Hubert Cullum during the 1930s. Initially, he operated from home before transitioning to a building on Waller Avenue. In the late 1960s, Hubert's son-in-law, George Smith, took over and added services for commercial and industrial heating and cooling. The company transformed into Cullum Electric AND Mechanical and relocated to its present site on East Durst Avenue. In the late 1980s, George's son, Wade Smith, joined Cullum Electric and Mechanical. Wade initially assisted in the electrical division before taking over the service department. Wade still leads the business with John's assistance, and George contributes by advising and managing special projects.

Wade, John, and George, all Clemson engineering alumni, are licensed contractors in both mechanical and electrical disciplines. They strive to preserve Cullum's legacy of excellence in heating, cooling, and electrical services and installations.
